True, but pay wise I am actually going to take a hit going from construction to a maintenance role. But the pay is still enough to live off. I am doing it to get something more stable over the next few years with my little one on the way. I need to get something consistent so we can have a pattern/system as a family. As much as I love construction and the pay we get (cause it is probably 15-20% more per hour but you are not working all year so it's a hard choice) I will be happy to not be going all over the province and not knowing when or where my next job/paycheque is coming from…...

Its totally understandable... good for you bro.. Its all part of "growing up" or just getting older in general.

I would probably not do it if my wife was not off for the next year on Mat leave…

I will still be on "the list" with my contracting company so if sh!t ever hits the fan (layoff) from maintenance gig then I still have my spot in the construction company. I will just be turning down their offers for the next 1-2 years minimum.
