Personally I like forza better for my racing sim needs. However, until xbox360 lets me use my g25 steering wheel I'll keep waiting for GT5 to come out. I'm guessing it'll be a big release party and they'll have a playable copy of Duke Nukem Forever to play along with GT5.

That December 29th date is BS. Cmon think about it when have they ever released a big name title right AFTER the holiday shopping season? If it's even close to being ready I think March '10 is more likely. But in reality they'll probably just release this as a launch title on the ps4.
If it does get released in March 2010 in Japan it will be 6 months before it's ready for sale in U.S. That means September 2010. If I had to bet money on it that would be my guess. One more year sweet! |

All GT5 cars get damage, here's the link All Cars Get “Damage” in Gran Turismo 5
|
im assuming 'everything' has had to be rewritten from scratch for the ps3 hardware in order to showcase the ps3 platform... and they couldnt reuse or tart up any of the old code or even graphic files?

Judging from the past release dates of gran turismo I'd say its somewhere between 1 to 3 months after its available in japan. 6 months would be more likely for a RPG that required a lot more localization such as the FF series.

Gran Turismo sales Game Search on VGChartz.com Forza Sales Game Search on VGChartz.com Yeah so how does the pwnage taste? Raw? Thought so. |
What does that mean? Nothing, seeing as how the GT series has been selling since '98 and has like 6 different games out compared to 2 Forzas.
But thanks for posting that up... shows that Forza 2 stomped GT5P in critic's ratings. Also shows a downward trend in the ratings for the GT series. Good job Cleo. |
GT5P is basically a demo...When's the last time you've seen a demo of a game SELL 3.15 million copies at $60 a pop?
Also, 9.4, 9.2, 9.5, 8.7(GT5P is not included because it's not a full release). I fail to see how up, down, up(highest), down is a downward pattern. If you had argued that the latest release of GT did much worse than the 1st 3 of the series, then you would have a valid point. Oh, and if you average out GT series, they average 9.2. Forza only manages 9.15. I like how you try to compare a full game to a game that only has maybe 15% of the total content...But hey, at least you can live life knowing both of your precious Forza games scored higher than GT4 in the critic's rating. Congrats on beating the least innovative game of the series, lol. |
I thought I killed this thread.
Well if you want my real 2 cents they're incredibly similar games with the platform only being the real difference. And seeing as I can only afford one my choice has been made. |

While your at it make sure to clearly read the sales chart. Every GT has averaged 10 million sold. Your Forza has 5 million total in 2 games. You are a sad and pathetic person indeed. You should be medicated ASAP. |

Here's an interview all GT5 haters can suck on when the day comes and GT5 breathes into our PS3s.
Note. No release date yet, but every question is answered pretty well. Vehicle deformation all vehicles, tracks, day night racing, fully customizable vehicles, Nascar reality etc etc. check it out. Yamauchi Interview Reveals More on GT5 Development |
I have not read all the pages in this thread, but have had a lot of seat time with both games. The physics on Forza are waaayyyyyy better than GT. GT looks waaaayyyy more clean than Forza though, and they have good force feedback steering wheels (G25), which gives them the win in my opinion. What's the point of a racing sim without a USB FB steering wheel?
The buttons on the PS3 controller are pressure sensitive, but the wheel, pedels, and FB take it to a whole new level of simulation. Pair that with a sim cockpit, and digital TV, and the fun factor goes waaayyyyy up. I think Prologue was a cash grab that was way overpriced for what we got. I was more than seriously disappointed with it. Polyphony really has taken too long to bring this game to market. Every fall the rumor mill starts that the game is coming for x-mas, or spring, and it never does. I agree that this launch has been an epic failure. You can't drag out the launch of a game for 3 years, unless the game is going to be the second coming.... And I truly hope that it is. I hope they finally get the physics right, and that it's not just a re-hash of GT4. All that being said.... I'm sure I'll be in the sim seat in time attack mode the first week it comes out. |

here is my take : forza simulates and shows MANY more physical interactions between road and car... however- they do not have a physics system thats precise enough to actually make the car behave as it would on a road... my problem w/ Forza - they try too many things which makes it unrealistic but w/ GT you get incremental differences which have been carefully calibrated / tested
