It is his money, and he should be able to flaunt it how he wants. I say we stop asking WHY he wants to spend it and focus more on what we can do to make sure he doesn't get screwed...

That's why the ring needs to be mentioned specifically in the pre-nup. If he's making the kind of income that's been hinted at in the this thread, a pre-nup is a requirement.

Agreed. My dad didn't pre-nup. Ugh..... Don't get me started on that.

Thank you, lol

I don't know why everyone is really interested in cost of the stone itself

Honestly, the more you make, the more intense everything becomes.
You make 50k a year, you buy a 370Z, you make 150k a year, you buy a GTR, you make 500k a year, you buy a 458.

I have a LOT of shoes, $100-150 a piece lets say... But since he's making 10X more than me, his sneakers are Jimmy Choos, Feragamos, and Guccis (literally)

Same goes with a house, choice of restaurant, etc.

Then again, a pre nup ONLY helps you keep everything you had BEFORE the marriage. If he opens 5 practices in 5 years after he gets married, she's gonna own half of them no matter what

(But yeah, I guess he'd keep the ring if the shít hit the fan)

To some extent, yes. Spousal support can be pre negotiated. The existing business could be sheltered, but expansion would most likely be community property. He needs a GOOD lawyer to take him through this before the wedding.
