You joke but I actually did have this happen once. I was cleaning my Smith and Wesson on the cofee table and some "super cleaner" sales people knocked on the door. Their sales pitch ended very abruptly when they looked past me to the coffee table and then to my right arm clutching something (my Ruger) behind the door.

It was my fault for thinking it was my brother at the door (he had called to tell me he was on his way). But sketchy sales people are just another good reason to carry a pocket pistol.

I always carry a gun around the house. It tucks into my back pocket and stays hidden. An 11.5 oz .357 Mag.

I don't play to the plan where they (invaders) knock first.

I saw an ADT commercial where some thug waits till dad leaves for work then smashes in the front door. With the implication of - WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

I said bang. Granted a hand gun is just what you use to get to your primary weapon.

I have had some cleaner people come up to me at a gas station once. The guy did his speak and cleaned something in his hand, and then goes, "it is also a wash & wax in one for cars let me show you on your car."

I almost had to tackle this guy, I stopped him and looke at him. He goes, you don't want a free trial? I stare him down and go no, I do not want some sh1t I have never seen before on my car.

Just as a tip, feel free to have them give you a business card or something, and be sure to touch it only on the edges. There are people who pose as door-to-door whatevers just to scope out the homes/owners for future theft. At least with a business card in hand, you may have a fingerprint if you or someone in the neighborhood gets targeted.

Or have them leave it on the step, if you're not opening the door.

guys will come around once in a while to sell new windows to everyone in the neighborhood (despite the no soliciting signs everywhere). i had one of them approach me as i got out of my car (i'd never open the door for them). he wanted to set up an appointment for someone to come by and look at my windows, and, im guessing, be really aggressive in trying to sell me windows while in my living room. **** that!

big red flag when i asked the guy for a brochure, business card, website, phone number, anything, just so i could research them first, and he couldn't give me any materials. seemed like a scam, or a way to case my home before they rob it. told him to take a hike.
