that being said: i took my fairladyZ sans a fair lady for her wkend short cruise this morn. an played herb alpert's newest cd: "steppin' out" which i had bought on amazon used, mostly becoz his wife, lani hall, was featured (her of sergio/brazil '66 lead vocal fame)...lot of old classics/standards done nicely...with the winders down, not so intimate, butt, i liked it...cool arrangements and her very special, spice-added, vocals...

and, as an aside...this wkends new orleans jazz fest on AXZ's ch. on DTV (cable) had the STRING CHEESE INCIDENT on thurs. and i was pretty much blown away with their live jam...2 hrs, and the two drummers barely ever stopped playing from tune-to-tune as one song ran into another...bobby plant was next, looking scary/grotesque; aging weirdly compared to his flower-power-"goddess" days in the 70's but still had the charisma and strong reminders of what him and roger-dodger (who's on first) brought to those glorious late 60's/early 70's days of yesteryears and never again post-beibers...SIGH...

my MAIN carlos santana was next and brought some mo' beloved latin funk (thou SCI had great latin percussion, as well}...what stood out for me was C-man's wifey poppin'/pumpin' da drums, gene krupa underhand style and pursuin' her lips kinda weirdly...i used to play drums---THAT GIRL CAN PUMP!!!

if'n you get a chance to catch the 7+ 1st day jam, chk out the last 3 1/2+ hrs...
