Like the saying goes, only two things come from Texas, and they sure don't look like no steer :icon17:

Hi Gale :hello:

Family Day? Is that a Canadian holiday? It's President's Day here... which I think celebrates both Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays without actually falling on one of them :ugh2:

Yes, the Ontario government recently (2008) introduced Family Day. It's only purpose is for teachers and bank employees to have another day off. :shakes head:

:hello:

Not much new here... Gonna be nice and warm today. Looking forward to getting the Z out soon.

I pulled all my HVAC grates out for the contractor to sandblast & paint (they're old heavy-duty steel ones and they're a little crusty) and they've got my hallway painted, a little more tile done in the bathroom and they finished out the trim around the new glass block window.

The dust and mess is annoying me and I'm ready for it to be done... Hopefully end of this week they'll be getting close. :ugh2:

They call that divorce dust. Stay strong Davey!

:rofl2: divorce dust I like it!

I am lucky for the most part my wife leaves the renos up to me. Which is nice we don't end up getting mad at each other, it's just me swearing alone in another room if something F's up

I actually know a guy that had his entire downstairs (<1000sf) down to studs and foundation within a month of purchasing a house. It took him over a year to do everything he wanted, and he and his wife were living in it the entire time. Five years later they're still together and looking for a new house (they've got a baby now, so looking for move-in ready). Unfortunately, all the work he put in doesn't really add much value to his house. He's going to be capped by the neighborhood and location property values around him.

  Usually, I just give the wife two budgets: the quick, expensive pay-someone-else option; and my inexpensive, might-take-a-lot-longer-than-you-think DIY option. She usually goes for the DIY budget cause she knows I won't stand for shoddy work, I have or have access to most any tools needed, and I'm not afraid to turn it over to the professionals (personal friends) if it gets to that point.
