:tiphat: so I will wait until we have warm weather in Chicago to make final judgement. If the bulge doesn't go away, the hoods struts will be coming off

Very strange. Mine fit perfectly. I would think the only way the hood bulges is if the forward strut bolts aren't fully set/sunk. The hood is bolted in the back and has a lock in the front.

Yeah, but JAR is in Austin which has a similar climate to Houston.

 wonder about the stroke on the strut, surely that is consistent....wonder too about mounting points...be interesting to find out measurement from standardized points.

I don't think that's an issue. The bolts seem fully set. The problem is that the struts keep hitting the plastics that are part of the brake master/battery covers and that's what is causing the bulge.

Could be inconsistency in plastic parts. Those particular items prob wouldn't be specced to tight because of location/use.

Did you contact Z1 about the issue?

Which side of the hood are the struts facing?

Is the outer tube towards the front of the hood, or the rear of the hood?

Not yet, a friend told me to wait a little because they may settle but
I dont think they will because like I mentioned those plastic bits.

And it's rubbing on the plastic? That's odd, same setup I have (Kelleyefields set).

The feedback on the kellyefields are much better

Yes, right behind where the foam is there is a plastic portion that sticks up. well the hood struts are hitting it (evidenced by marks on the plastic piece)

Well I would say it has it's +'s/-'s as well... It's not 100% perfect, but a good first effort.

How does the lower arm (the one at the fender) mount to the body? Is it just a post screwed in somewhere, or is it a post on a plate that is then bolted down?

Post on a washer bolted down. The washer can go between the metal fender and plastic or on top of the plastic (I tried both and bulge/rubbing were present for both)

How much thread does it have? Could try putting some washers on it to raise the top of the post up? If you're just barely rubbing 1 or 2 washers should get you some clearance..

Did the post that is in the Hood mount plate have to screw into the plate as well, or is it welded on?

If possible, remove both posts and swap their positions?

So when someone says that the fitment on a set of wheels would be "too aggressive" are they referring to the amount of poke beyond the fender?

Pintsize725 12-30-2012 08:03 PM

To go for a third or not? Hmm. :yum:
