I'm very pleased with my car's appearance on the stock rims with spacers and springs. It's definitely noticeable as a more aggressive stance than stock, but without being a StanceNation poster boy.

I'm also of the same mindset when it comes to spending on mods.
I can't swing or justify the cash for the wheels I really want (SSR Professor MS1), so I'm just not going to do it. I mean, hey... the OEM Sport Package rims are a pretty good looking RAYS wheel already. Anything less would be a downgrade.

Problem is that I have base rims.

You could probably pick up a nice set of pre-owned Sport Package or Nismo rims with tyres and TPMS for what you'd pay for average quality aftermarket wheels.
Something to chew on. :tiphat:

which konig are you looking at getting, ms. pint?

Mr.kenchan.... maybe it's the sidewall, it just look so bubbly along with the contour of the G... looks like it can float on water.... :icon17:

A low profile might help..

According to Mr.kenchan's info, the Deceptions are 18x8 and 18x9, it's even narrower than the OEM.

With those offset, you will have to put in spacers on all four corners, that's another $200, you don't want to mess up your Z with the cheapy one... :ugh2:

Pint honey~~~ :p

I strongly suggest you hold off the idea for now....

It seems you can spend a little to fulfill your wish, but it might end up a bigger nightmare....

the Deceptions appear to come in 18x8 (ET20 and ET40) and 18x9 (ET35) looking at discounttire.com are those the only sizes available?

those offsets aren't going to look right unless you're willing to work with spacers and lowering. ET20 will have poke, ET35 for rear at 9" width will look too conservative.

honestly though, get spacers for your stock wheels and lower it if you want to get the most out of appearance with minimal funds. otherwise, just leave it stock and save up.

hummm... if the rear Deceptions only come ET35, you're going to need spacers. otherwise they will look super tucked in.

btw, i think mr. gurney is running 15mm and 10mm spacers on his nismo wheels?

Base 18s aren't bad looking. I'd have gotten spacers if I kept them on, but certainly not terrible.

Pint.. ^ that's what I mean... if the offset of those Konig is very off, then spacers will be a must... then more $$ to spend and it won't be an option.

Pintsize725 01-14-2013 02:08 PM

So what say you guys about these if I can get them powdercoated?

oh i c, thanks for the clarification.

yah, i personally do not think the nismo wheels need spacers either. they are perfect stance for stock height imho.

adds up about $1650 with S&H plus you have to spend $$ on powder-coat them.

I'm PMing you. :icon17:

kenchan 01-14-2013 02:23 PM

ms.pint- if you're not planning to lower your ride keep front offsets between:

front +30 to +35 for 9" width can probably do +25 to +30 for 8"
rear +15 to +23 for 10.5" width, +13 to +20 for 10", probably do +11 to +18 for 9.5"

Looks like they were someone's autocross or track day wheels and they've had a rough life.

kenchan 01-14-2013 02:33 PM

^^ true...possibly lots of stress on the wheel.

Well that and the damage to the trunk you caused when I locked you in

LunaZ 01-14-2013 02:34 PM

Gurney's car is quickly becoming my idea of the perfect example of how Nissan should have made our cars in the first place.
I'm a huge fan of the "modded-but-still-looks-factory" look.

Edges of the rims look like they've lived the life of track wheels from repeated tyre mountings.
I know my R6's wheels weren't pretty anymore after a season of racing and having new tyres mounted by the Dunlop truck at the track every weekend!

Not exactly...
I'm not a huge fan of the Nismo rear end or spoiler. The ducktail Gurney has on there is slightly more aggressive, but still subtle. The lower stance helps, too.
His colour scheme is really good, and I'm a fan of the red brakes and cross-drilled rotors ;)
