One, I wanted to short TSLA when it was I believe in the $190's. I didn't want/couldn't because of my big play & concern with casinos in N.Y.

I also didn't/couldn't know about TSLa's earning news before it came out :)

NYNY is now my # ONE play by far. As far as TSLA, if it takes a jump up, I WILL manage to short it. I think TSLA will go under $100 before the 2014 elections. Obama & Obama care is involved in the future our economy & the support of MUSK & TESLA. Also the COOL guys already bought the car & TSLA & the other subject will not be very cool anymore !!!!! :)If I could short the USA for the next 3 years, I would...Now I got to go get some sleep. Excitement woke me up :)

Chuck33079 11-06-2013 07:11 AM

Don't short it, buy some puts. That way you cap your losses. Selling short puts you in a position to suffer a massive loss, with the puts you can only lose your premium.

andre12031948 11-06-2013 07:27 AM

Not political

I had talk about Tesla the way I did because the Govt. gives Tesla customers big money to buy that car, not to mention a big push because of green energy stuff. It's like if the Egyptian Suez canal got destroyed, how could one talk about investing without talking about the destruction of the canal & oil going through the roof & affecting the world's & our economy's????

So I had to say what I did, otherwise why have/talk about investing....

Puts? I have to learn more about that. I can't sleep today:)

Do some homework on that. It's still betting on the decline, but you're not forced to cover a short if you're wrong and the stock jumps up.

Meulen 11-06-2013 07:34 AM

Puts are expensive on TSLA! So do a put spread and save some cash!

:iagree: They're expensive for good reason :rofl2:

Still much, much cheaper than selling short and being wrong. :rofl2:

andre12031948 11-06-2013 07:41 AM

CHUCK- I did the right thing by selling 1/2 of my nyny stock when I did

Thanks to you.

The reason is because I targeted a $7.00 + price AFTER approval. So I sold at a good price without the risk & much less stress while seeing/waiting IF the casino vote turned my way

And if the vote goes your way, it's all free money. It's a win-win.

Goes?????

What was the result?

Casinos approved!!!!! :icon17:

Only 4 for the first seven years, & 99.9% I know which one is one of them :icon17: & the ONLY public traded one as well.

Chuck33079 11-06-2013 08:00 AM

Not bad. Up 20% premarket. You may be in for a nice ride.

andre12031948 11-06-2013 08:14 AM

that's why I put TSLA aside

I may sell the rest today then get back into it IF it goes back down to $5 range.

Don't really know/not sure of anything. TSLA on the sidelines for now.

My 350z is gone. I have a very nice 95 240sx/se all original! & a high mileage rusty 99 Max front wheel as my snow car. Don't want the 240 as my DD.
So this week I may buy a plain Jane 2012 370z as a D Driver till 2015 or find something I like.

Not a bad plan. You'll enjoy the jump today, and get back in cheaper when everyone else starts taking profits out. And it will come back down temporarily. It's had too much of a run-up for people not to take their profits out.

andre12031948 11-06-2013 08:22 AM

Some news comes out like a buy out for $20 & ,,,, as you can see, excited but NOT SURE of anything :)

Chuck33079 11-06-2013 08:23 AM

Well, set aside a portion and let it ride. Nothing says you have to sell it all. Sell all but a few thousand shares and see where those go.

andre12031948 11-06-2013 08:23 AM

when you deal with good or better than good

I can't complain :)

andre12031948 11-07-2013 12:05 PM

Bought back a large position in Empire resorts/NYNY

That's because at $5 this stock can be a double or more, or a crying mess :(

4 casinos were approved. Saratoga in my opinion is an 80% being one of them. Yonkers at 50%. Empire resort/NYNY 99%. The 4th ???? Maybe in Ellenville 35% chance.

So if/when NYNY is chosen, after that time or before, Genting owners of the Aqueduct racetrack racino & 80% owners of NYNY might buy out the rest of the stock holders. There's also a very good possibility that Ceasars or another giant casino player buys out the resort. If that happens, the price of a share might triple or more.

The down side & I've said it before, It's NOT an investment!!!, it's a gamble.

If Empire/nyny does NOt get picked, you will lose most of your money....

bigdog1250 11-07-2013 04:05 PM

TSLA is getting hurt way more than it should, they are going places in the next few years. Just not sure what to do with the stock in the short term.

Luckily I didn't drop much cash on options, but I'm getting pounded on the shares I'm holding.

Would love to put the money somewhere else but I usually only trade auto manufacturers, primarily Ford.

Id say it's more coming back down to a reasonable price after getting way, way overbought. Until they have a viable strategy to sell cars to people who aren't looking to buy a $90k car and there's enough infrastructure to support widespread EV usage, I wouldn't expect them to do much.

tibal 11-07-2013 07:03 PM

I will say that today was somewhat of a scary day. Having the Pinky OTC down until an hour before close was worrisome! Luckily I was able to keep a close eye on those MMs and watch $TWTR and $TSLA go up and down.

I am interested in $TWTR.. Right now it stands higher than Facebook and I think it will definitely be a higher valued stock than the latter. Buzz buzz buzzz about it sheesh! Cant wait until normal trading day tomorrow!!

Chuck33079 11-07-2013 07:26 PM

I still want to hear how twtr plans to generate enough revenue. It's taken FB quite a while to go cash flow positive.

is this what a typical stock investment portfolio looks like?

Chuck33079 12-23-2013 01:12 PM

As far as what? Asset allocation? I'd do some things differently, but there's good stocks in there.

yeah, i know nothing about stocks since i only do real estate but someone posted that pic and it kinda piqued my interest. seems like there's a lot of potential to make money but also lose money (fast)...

Chuck33079 12-23-2013 01:23 PM

You should educate yourself a little more. There's some good links in here. It's only as risky as you make it, just like real estate. Unlike real estate, there's no depreciation to shield any income you make off of it, but it's a lot more liquid.

tibal 12-23-2013 01:54 PM

That is a pretty stacked portfolio. Big money stocks in there. Mine couldn't be any more different. (OTC, small cap, pinks = millions of shares.) Very interesting. :)

That's what yours will look like if you split your gains every time you sell out of a position and buy a boring large-cap dividend payer with half. ;)

Haha! Probably would be safer!!

LOL I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time. Ain't nobody got time to wait!! :happydance:

Gashhhh my portfolio is sooo red today. :(

Was killing it in $MRIB, great company, solid news, but these MMs and flip flopping traders are not helping it take off.

Good points man! I tend to be more into index funds and some mutual funds. I have REITs, Vanguard Target Date (with the typical blend Total Stock Market/International Stock Market/Some Bonds), TRowe Target Date, TRowe Health & Sciences Mutual funds and large position with AAPL through brokerage account (make some good change on it during the spike and got back in, will hold it through next year if it hopefully gets some strong momentum with Chinese deal). Also getting ready to add Vanguard International Developed ETF (VEA) and some positions with BKLN. That would hopefully give me some diversification should sh&t hit da fan.

Not too willing to spend huge amount of time handpicking stocks. Make good money out of FNMA and bailed out. For those with big cohones that could be chance to win big if bet goes their way. :tiphat:

So I take it no one jumped on this? ;)

If someone had, they would have doubled their money already with more room to run.

I keep posting these MJ stocks, but seriously...

From $25 to todays high of

$58.75 .... Medbox - MDBX

Did anyone jump on it and buy a few shares? I put a sell out at $53 just to make sure I double my money.

NickTurnon 01-07-2014 12:35 PM

Really, $74 overnight?

Is anyone else seeing this? I shouldve held onto my shares haha!

Made $375 today though from it... 18 shares

tibal 01-07-2014 01:36 PM

Haha DAMN! That is crazy and I have been just watching that thing move up up and up.

The MJ stock are honestly killing it with the new (numbers) coming from MJ shares edging 1Mil the first day!
