I bought an AR-15 from CMMG in 6.8 spc. Do you believe this is a viable cartridge or will it die off?

I bought a Mil Spec .45 from Springfield Armory a few years ago. It is parkerized which I was told was almost as good as stainless. But it scratches so easy I wonder how the fiinish can hold up and I am very easy and careful with my toys. Is this normal for parkerized finishes to scratch so easily?

I also noted the .45 was made by Imbel in Brazil. Do you know if there have been any problems with the Imbel made .45s? I thought I was buying an American made product.

Thanks for your help
Good questions.
I am not a munitions specialist so I cant speak to ballistics and what not. But from what I hear... it isn't going to become mainstream cartidge. It has it perks and its drawbacks like any other round. What I have heard comments about is that it doesnt do anything any better than anything else, so why go to it? The military doesn't want the 6.8. It may be a great novelty or mid game round. I am not downplaying the novelty of any round, I also have a 6.8. I often add new and obscure guns(calibers) to my collection, but for everyday shooting go with 223. parts and ammo costs etc play in.
Ah Parkerizing... We want our toys to look shiny and nice. Reality is that a finish on a gun exists to protect the steel from rust/corrosion. parkerizing is durable in that it will protect the steel bettewr than a lot of other finishes. Dont confuse that with it looking good. Actually parkerizing tends to show wear and marks more than many other finishes... Over time you will become acustomed to and appreciate the worn in look of a gun... time will heal that wound.

I am not familiar with any problems with Brazil made guns... I believe Taurus and several shotguns are made in Brazil. Many companies produce their lower line stuff in other countries... I like buying american too, but I wouldn't get rid of that springfield at all or think any less of it, it is a good piece. Keep in mind the frame was probably forged there,, it wasn shipped here fitted and assembled right here. Seriously dont let it bother you... enjoy it go shoot it at the range. If you have to sell it call me!
