Even before the gun grabbing hysteria broke out it was difficult to get high quality (Daniels Defense, LMT, Noveske etc...) uppers or even parts. It took me about 4 months to put together a Noveske so for the next AR I just went an bought a complete LMT. Probably the best chance of getting a decent complete upper would be at a gun show.

So looks like I'll be helping my boss pick an AR to order next week. He waited too long but doesn't mind spending the money. They have some good NIB stuff floating around if you're willing to pay up for it.

Unfortunately for me work might one day draw me to NY/NYC. At least for now I'm grounded in gun-friendly VA, however Northern VA is increasingly anti as the years go by.

shot a Spring XDs today with the wife. Think we might go with it for her carry piece. Gun was surprisingly easy to handle for a thin, light .45

My only worry is the 5+1 capacity. It's not terrible but I'd rather have a couple more bullets.

I'm totally biased but has she tried a defender/commander 1911?

the 1911 grip doesn't really fit well in her hand. we also prefer not to have an external hammer for a carry piece.

I understand that one. It took me a while to get my draw down. Luckily, like most things including cigars, I took Steve's advice on a holster and it works all the difference in the world.

Hope she finds something perfect for her!

I don't mind the external hammer for OWB carry, but I tend to get **** all dirty when it stays in my pants

Nice gun.

If you are looking for single stacks I'd also take a look at the Kahr P, CW, PM, and CM line. They are really nice and come in a variety of calibers.

I have a CM9 that I carry when my G26 is too big. It has 6+1 capacity so I always carry a spare mag in my pocket.

Yeah, kahr's were nice. They didn't have a .45 for us to try though. Need to find a place with one.
