BTW, I'm sort of the opposite of you... the 19 is a perfect fit for my smallish hands. The 17 would have the benefit of greater capacity and a slightly longer sight radius, but I'm not really sure how much of a difference there would be with the two. Maybe I should rent them next time I go to the range.

One of the major pluses of the 19 is I could easily carry it if I wanted to, whereas the 17 would probably be too big. The 19 would probably be pretty good at OWB carry in the winter.

go with what fits your hand best IMO...for the life of me, i cant shoot small guns accurately because they feel so awkward in my hand, i cant get my grip right

With practice I am pretty good with them. But they definitely aren't very fun to shoot a lot. The G26 is OK, but it's really not a range gun. I can go and put a few hundred yards down range if I want, but I'd rather be doing that with a 19/17.

Speaking of practice, I need more. I finally went to the range after several months away (been mad busy) and had a bit of a wake up call. I need to get back to going at least twice a month. When I did that and put at least 200 rounds down range each visit I was accurate and consistent. I had all of the noob shooting errors last night.

I told my fiancée that we need to get her a nice full-size (or non sub-compact, anyways) so she can try competitions. She's way better than me. Her groups at 50 feet are as good as mine at 21 feet, and mine are pretty good (when I'm up and up with my practice, of course.) I get so mad when I go to the range with her. :bowrofl:

That's how I'm going to spin the purchase of the 19/17, too. "If we get it, you'll be able to really show how good you are with a full grip and longer sight radius!"

Yeah, they are. I think 19 is definitely the way to go. It looks better than the 17, too. I think the 17 looks like a duck. :|

I bought the 19 for the wife mainly for home defense. Most of the guys around here make fun of me because I carry a 9. Everyone thinks I will not shoot as well with a larger caliber.

IMO it doesnt matter what you shoot as long as you can shoot it accurately...stopping power wont matter if you cant shoot it straight lol

Kirkster makes fun of my (and Trooper's) 9mms all the time. He has yet to volunteer to stand in front of one!!!

Speaking of 9s, I was just given authorization to "buy whatever" I want.
