I was a "hod" carrier when I was in college. That was a local term for "hard". I worked on the crew that mixed and transported the mortar, as well as set-up the scaffolds and laid out the cinder blocks and mortar plates for the brick layers.

Imagine lifting cinder blocks and mortar five stories on a series of scaffolds. I was definitely in the best shape I've ever been in my life. Ate five big meals a day, drank beer all night, and still weighed only 148 lbs. I'm 6'1" and weigh 20 pounds more these days. Such is progress.

Man -- I have not heard the term "hod" for a while. Yep -- making mud, building scaffolding (bucks, braces and boards), humping block and brick, taking crap from the genius masonry masters -- all good times.

Back in Virginia, there were days in the winter when I had to make a fire in a 55 gallon drum that we poured our sand pile around. The heat melted the frozen sand enough so we could shovel it into the mixer.

onzedge 09-04-2012 02:00 PM

Oh yeah -- I was in excellent shape then as well.

That's why I haven't really considered a daily driver. If the situation were to change, either a longer commute or harsher parking conditions, I'd probably get a Fit or a Yaris for daily driver.

Yeah, a couple of years ago when I started here, the lot was empty on the North end of the building, and all the guys who cared would park their cars out there, we didn't all know each other but there was a certain respect, you knew where people parked and you left a space between you...

Now it's crowded even 150 yards from the building and you're right on top of the landscaping or whatever, and some jackass is always looking to beat you to work so they can snipe one of the good spots, so I just don't bother... I drive my Civic, get 34 MPG, and don't worry about what I'm going to find when I walk out there at night.

Sadly my Z hasn't been in the garage since I got her home.. it's full and I have been retarded busy.. however, I do wash her fairly frequently and only at dusk so it's not so hot out.. however.. the broken under tray, and PS leak make me sad panda, and I don't want to drive her..

Yeah, what he said.
I'm not one for all those sayings that turn into the stupid pictures that females on Facebook litter my news feed with, but I do like "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans".
Now imagine that saying in a tacky font with "you're" misspelled and applied to some sort of Pinteresty, overly-Photoshopped photo of a toddler holding her mother's hand and you're halfway there.

I am just incredibly stressed out.

I'm having trouble keeping up with all the bs going on in my life right now.

And I'm exhausted.

Slow down and Step back....

then look at the BS one at a time, solve/finish it, then the next one.....

I cannot do that. The timing, pacing, and importance of the events involved cannot be changed. Many things that have already occurred have been beyond my control, but I now have to deal with the consequences.

I just have to get through it all. I'm simply exhausted and overloaded through the beginning of October. This last 12 month period can easily enter the conversation for being the worst year of my life.

I am sorry to hear that, you rather solve those problems one at a time than ten at a time.

Lots of things was beyond our control but we still have to deal with it, but when you look at them all at once, yes, you'll get crazy.

Look at them one after one might seem slow, but you will find out you can be more calm and finish them quicker than you think....

Been there, trust me...

Hope things will get better on you quickly.... :tiphat:
