Hopefully 16GB is enough for me! Dont do much downloading music..but I do take a lot of pictures of things

b1adesofcha0s 06-06-2012 09:31 AM

I know Verizon is getting rid of it, but I don't really follow news on Sprint.

Well it has a microSD card to so you can always buy more of those for much cheaper.

Thechidz 06-06-2012 10:00 AM

Preordered this morning, going to throw my 32 gb micro sd from my thunderbolt in it and call it a day

b1adesofcha0s 06-06-2012 10:09 AM

Did you pre-order from Verizon? Did they give you a shipping date?

Thechidz 06-06-2012 05:03 PM

Got an email saying ship date july 9th :/

b1adesofcha0s 06-06-2012 05:38 PM

Best Buy pre-order for the win! I just hope I do actually get it by June 28th.

Jasonle 06-06-2012 05:53 PM

Somebody told me people that pre-ordered get it a day before everyone else on the release date? Not sure if this is true. Excited!

That would be awesome! Where did you pre-order from and with which carrier?

Thechidz 06-06-2012 09:45 PM

im on verizon btw

Jasonle 06-06-2012 09:47 PM

I went through best buy... SPRINT! :)

b1adesofcha0s 06-06-2012 09:49 PM

I went through Best Buy for Verizon.

Thechidz 06-06-2012 09:56 PM

the thing i worry about with best buy is that they don't process the order until it ships, so if vzw cuts grandfathered unlimited data plans before the s3 ships you could lose your unlimited data (if you have it now that is) But I guess worst case scenario you could always cancel the best buy order and preorder through vzw as soon as vzw announces they are killing unlimited data

Trips 06-06-2012 09:59 PM

You lucky guys :ugh2:

I won't be able to upgrade till Oct. but again the Nexus2 will be coming out also :excited:

Jasonle 06-06-2012 10:02 PM

My phone plan with sprint unlimited data and 1500 minutes for me and my wife is $144 a month. What is Verizon wireless plan look like?

On a side note my friend is jealous that I'm getting the s3 he offered his phone + 3 nights with his wife. Lol. Of course he was kidding :)

Thechidz 06-07-2012 09:51 AM

Verizon i have unlimited data and 450 minutes for $70/month aftervall taxes fees. I have 18% discount on minutes through work and i use google voice so unlimted free text messages

Apple calls for an early ban on Samsung Galaxy S III, isn't amused by S Voice -- Engadget

b1adesofcha0s 06-07-2012 10:19 AM

Looks like it won't happen though. They tried to add it on to the lawsuit they filed against the Nexus, but they weren't allowed to. Looks like they will have to start a whole new case for the S3 which will probably take long enough so that we can all get our phones.

b1adesofcha0s 06-07-2012 12:38 PM

For anyone else that pre-ordered through Best Buy, did you get an e-mail saying that your order total is $699.99? I'm assuming that they will just apply the upgrade discount when you actually go and pick up the phone. I'll have to call BB to confirm this though.

Boost_lee 06-08-2012 02:26 AM

We are getting the dual core version, correct? How is it holding up against the quad core version?

No email yet from Best Buy! But yeah they will just apply the upgrade discount when you get it. Do you get the $9.99 extra a month insurance thing on your phone? Like if the phone breaks or something they will replace it full if you have that insurance?

370zproject 06-08-2012 05:43 PM

ok upgrade newbie here without reading all the post so will verizon be getting this in their stores? and will i lose my unlimited if i do?

Yes, and only if you upgrade after verizon rolls out the new data plans.

the alternative is to buy it out right :(

in order to keep your unlimited plan from what I read

If you upgrade your phone (and renew your contract by 2 years by doing so) before Verizon comes out with their new data plan then you will keep your unlimited data.

You'll lose the unlimited plan but the new data bucket plans haven't been announced to reveal where they're going to start at.

This is what a lot of people were waiting for so I'd jump on it if not there will be others down the road including the Nexus2 or iPhone5. :ugh2:

cossie1600 06-08-2012 11:51 PM

Is this phone going to be worth the $100-$200 over the S2?

I can't speak from using it but looking at the comparisons? I would agree it's worth the upgrade.

Now as for folks like me with the Nexus It's not that great to really be needing to upgrade unless it's just to be on the cutting edge. IMO

This isn't true. If you upgrade your phone BEFORE they roll out the new plans then you will be able to keep your unlimited data for another 2 years. You can get the phone at the reduced upgrade price and still keep your unlimited data.

If you don't upgrade your phone by the time they roll out the new data plans, then you will have to buy the phone for full retail price to keep your unlimited data. However, this only applies to people who currently have unlimited data.

If you have Verizon currently with an unlimited data plan and are eligible for an upgrade, I would highly recommend you upgrade soon so you can keep the unlimited data for another 2 years.

My wife has the $30 sero plan which can be upgraded. While she doesn't use the phone much now, but I can see her abusing the crap out of it when our baby comes out. I am thinking about getting her a new phone before the baby arrives. Iphone 5 might be too late, so I am thinking about getting her a S2 or a S3. I figure if the difference is $200, it might be worth it to get the S2

Congrats on the baby!

Well the price of the 16 GB S3 with a new or upgraded contract is only like $200 so may not be that much of a difference in price. Probably like $50-100.

if you wait until verizon has it in store (most likely july 9th) you will lose your unlimited data because verizon will be killing those plans if you upgrade to a subsidized phone. If you preorder the phone now you can keep your unlimited data and still get the phone cheaper with the subsidy. If you wait for the phone to be offered in store you can still keep your unlimited data if you pay full retail for the phone $599-$649.

Only if your not eligible for the upgrade price. If you can preorder at the upgrade ($199) price right now you can keep your unlimited data plan so go ahead and do it
