When should a kid have a cellphone?

I think it is good to start teaching kids about phones as early as possible. I will give my son one as soon as he is old enough to operate

I will give my son one as soon as he is old enough to operate it. Not only is it a safety net but I think it will aid in my efforts to teach him how to be responsible. Now don't get me wrong, he will be limited to a prepaid device and I will monitor it closely. __________________ Slightly modded
