uhh being that we are on an enthusiast site... you may think so..

but to most of the world the car is just a utility to get places or get things done. As is the bicycle... the train.. the airplane... etc.

Being we are on an enthusiast site I was referring more to the Z, or a sports car. Im sure people who have a sports car wouldn't want it to drive itself...whats the point of that.

People who see it as a utility or means of transport wasn't what I was getting at.

I know people who have said for months that they can't wait until we all have automated commutes.

It makes me sick personally, because I'm an enthusiast, but a lot of people are hailing this invention as a great convenience for their lifestyles.

To be fair, these are people who probably shouldn't drive in the first place. They're "bothered" by their commutes, so they talk on their cell phones, eat, do their makeup, all while driving. Automating those aholes on the road would be safer for us all.

Its called multitasking, and im sure even if cars drove themselves people wouldn't stop doing these things.

he is saying that people dont like the commute. So they fill it with doing other things, which makes everything unsafe.

He didnt say that multitasking itself was bothersome, but rather the fact that people get up in the morning and face a long commute to work.

if you like somthing and look forward to it, you dont do other things like doing it. You get things out of the way and or do them later.

Like if i were going on a mountain cruise, im not eating a donut, or on the phone, or doing art....

if im not looking foward to my drive to work, i think to myself, you know i'll just call AT&T when i drive to work to complain about the caller id not working.

Yes, people multitask because they do not treat driving seriously enough. They do not see it as important. Rather, they see it as a bothersome task.

That is precisely my point.

If people treated their responsibilities as a motorist with the attention it deserves, they would see that trying to "save time" while doing so is irresponsible and dangerous.

And, as I said, for those people, I would rather have a computer making their driving decisions so they could go about being a nuisance only to themselves and not risk our lives.
