Unfortunately, the mini lipo batteries don't last very long. I have a Blade mCX just for kicks and those batteries last 6-7 min. They take about 10-20 min to charge

Unfortunately, the mini lipo batteries don't last very long. I have a Blade mCX just for kicks and those batteries last 6-7 min. They take about 10-20 min to charge depending on the charger. The nice thing about that heli is you can take out the batteries...so you can buy several batteries to reduce down time.
Getting a heli that uses 2.4 GHz transmission will be way better than IR control for sure.
