Last night was rough. I was in a match with a horrible team in Canals (conquest). We were RU and they sucked so bad we couldn't even get out of the main deployment spawn. :bowrofl:

Then I linked up with RoshDawg on another server but we could never get anything going.

Oh well. My 6950s are being delivered today and new mobo will be in Friday, so hopefully next week I'll be back up and running again, this time with better graphics and more FPS.

We should have a MW3 platoon!

not much of a game for teamplay/teamwork. More just run around in circles spraying bullets in hopes of a kill.

Maybe thats why i prefer MW3. im just not a team player.

I've been pretty good at "running and gunning" in BF3... in the tank.

I can rape the **** out of maps in a tank all by myself.

lets try to get a two tank motorcade going? that would just be unfair to opposite team tho.. btw I'm finally well rested and ready for battle lol

Speaking of, I wish they had more platoon features. Such as platoon battles..

We really need to get three people in a tank. I think we could do a lot of damage with a good driver (yours truly :p), a good gunner, and a good CITV operator. The guided shell would be sweet and we could always keep moving.

If you get two people each in two tanks, and all of them are engineers, you virtually are unstoppable. You get hit and you can repair SOO fast if two people are doing it. AND you have twice the fire power.

I forgot to join up, I liked it right away though!!
As far as platoon battles, this is something that is in the works with Team Warefare. They have "clan" ladders that you can join and you battle other clans to move up in the ranks. I have done it in past games (starting with Starsiege Tribes..if anyone remembers that!!). It is a BLAST!! Our clan even had practices twice a week..haha. Hardcore nerds.

If you've got the guided shell and have someone working the CITV you are unstoppable. You literally never have to stop moving and you can hit everything with near perfect accuracy.

My 6950s are here!

I don't have my new mobo yet so I just popped one of them in, replacing my 2GB 5870.

I got the Sapphire "Dirt 3" edition 2GB 6950s which come with a dual bios switch. If you flick the switch to the non-factory setting it unlocks the extra shaders from 1408 to the full 1536 that are available on the 6970. Then you go into the cool Sapphire TriXX utility and raise the core and memory clock speeds from 800/1250 to the 880/1375 from the 6970... voila... you've got a 6970 but spent $100 less! :tup:

So far this thing blows the 5870 out of the water. I can run medium-high settings (with minimal AA) across 5760x1080 resolution. It's going to be nice once I CrossFireX both of the cards. I should be able comfortably run High-Ultra settings. :tup:

Shooting down helicopter pilots with a M4A05 is always fun :) Or killing people with the MAV. They get so mad lol

Finally took the 3rd spot with someone who has guided shells and quite the fun. You don't score much though in the 3rd spot.

You really don't, and I think its most effective if you have voice communication. If you can keep the tank moving all the time while you are firing off guided shells its so damn devastating.

I cant play BF3 on my lappytop and Im stuck with it at home. 2.5 weeks without BF3 is making BOBO GO CRAZY.

The new board is in. Cable management is a lot better than it was before but can still be improved.

I have some cooling mods coming down the pipeline. A real CPU cooler and a bunch of case fans to be installed in the coming weeks... and some shorter SATA cables to tidy things up a bit.

Having all sorts of issues with it right now, though. Lots of crashes with Crossfire so far.

I am going to switch back to the standard 6950 bios (1408 shaders instead of the unlocked 1536) and see if it runs any smoother that way.

Ya Steve I think switching back to 6850 specs should do the trick. But dang that is some impressive hardware.

I just hope I sort it out because it was not a cheap upgrade. I will get back to working on it on Thursday. I am hoping it's just cooling issues since I can solve that easily.

In case anyone has any pointers...

Regardless of whether the cards are set to their locked 1408 shaders or unlocked 1536 I get total lockups after some gameplay. It might take 5 minutes it might take 50, but at some point the screen completely freezes (or goes dark) and the PC stays running. But it requires a hard reset to actually do anything.

I disabled Crossfire and tried it on a single card and had it crash on me after about 15 minutes or so.

I guess I need to do some more temperature testing to see how hot the cards or CPU are getting. Probably a good idea to make sure my BIOS is up to date as well. If it's not temperature related I think it might be the ATI drivers... in which case I get to play around with testing previous versions. Fun.

i used to get the same thing. i posted a few pages back on how i fixed it. it has something to do with onboard sound card and the game. you got a new mobo right? are you using the onboard sound card on that? if you are than im 99% sure that's the problem. i fixed mine by buying a new one and turning the onboard audio off completely. never crash anymore. but when i took the new sound card out and used the onboard it kept crashing and freezing.

I remember it now that you bring it up. I'll make a note to test the audio before I do anything else. I wonder if it's a driver issue?

I don't have a spare sound card laying around so I'll have to play deaf during testing.

yeah try it out im pretty sure the sound card is the problem. but i dont think its a driver issue. ive updated my drivers so many times and it never helped. what kind of mobo are you using? is it gigabyte?

I was using a gigabyte and never had issues with the sound. I have an MSI P55-GD80 now.

Are you adjusting voltages as you OC the card?

I had to take my 570GTX up to 1.68 volts (from 1.13) when I OC'ed it..otherwise it was crashing out of BF3 constantly.

Cards are all at stock clocks on stock voltages.

also..have you ever used ATItool? Awesome way to scan your card for artifacts as you adjust clock settings. A good rule of thumb is to go at least 15 mins. without an artifact.

I haven't used it yet. I will keep it in mind for when I do OC, though. I am going to stay at stock clocks until I get this issue sorted out.

Also, about 3 months ago I had the EXACT issue you had and the problem boiled down to my Mobo. My pci-e slots were drawing too much power and causing black screens/crashes..i got a replacement board and problem went away.

just something to note i guess.

God I hope it's not a problem with the board. I don't want to take it apart again. :bowrofl:

With respect to ATI... it seems like every driver they release is Beta. :icon17:
