What did you do with your lawn/garden today?

OK I will start. Backyard work included late summer ferti;izing, watering and vegetable harvesting.

^ nice. that must of been fun. how fast are the lawn mowers??

MC 08-21-2011 02:06 PM

well it will do a wheelie from a dead stop in my driveway lol...

i tried the GPS mph thing with it on my droidX and it said like 13 mph or something...

im pretty lightweight and when i hit a bump in the yard my whole *** comes off of the seat haha.

yeah its actually fun i the back yard is almost that big and i can do front and back in like 30 mins

its a good thing because i have soooooo much to keep up by my self.... before i got that SGAG mower it would take hours

i have to get the weeds up tomorrow... a weed eat around the ring wheel lol its a never ending cycle.. end up mowing maybe twice a week

StLRedrider 09-05-2011 12:13 PM

drought and 100* temps have killed my lawn

dennis26 09-05-2011 01:46 PM

Rain today. We need it, about 9 inches behind where we should be.

I'm gonna have to upgrade my lawn aeration tool!

Aerated the last section of my lawn, a strip that runs along the left side of the driveway just before the hedgerow.
It has a considerable slope and I've been trying to re-grow the grass there after having the new driveway put in. I want to avoid erosion there, so I added topsoil up to the asphalt and re-seeded.

I don't have a lawn ;(

LunaZ 09-11-2011 05:08 PM

Forgot to add that I also performed my break-in oil change this afternoon.
Drained the oil tank and refilled it with 16oz of fresh SAE30.

CBRich 09-11-2011 05:36 PM

Put down some milorganite. May be the last for the year.

Lug 09-11-2011 08:07 PM

Stared at the 6 treees that have died from the drought so far. :(

Thanks, I'm doing indian rain dance-offs in the yard! The city also tickets you $500 if they catch you watering your yard outside of designated times. Unfortunately, those times are on 2 weekdays and start at 10pm at night and ends at 6 am. My "yard" is over an acre (my field is beyond saving) and I couldn't water it all in the time frame even if I could stay up all night to do it. :(

After a month of rain, we finally have some sun and it looks like my aeration, overseeding and fertilizing are a success:

First mow of the season here in central PA.
Sweating my a** off, getting a bit of a sunburn and mowing my lawn in March?!?!?

eastwest2300 03-24-2012 01:57 AM

We TOTALLY need to cut our grass, our lawn looks hideous.

GaleForce 03-24-2012 07:05 AM

I transplanted a 5' cedar from one side of the yard to the other side, then transplanted a nice 10' beech tree to where the cedar was so I could make space for some kind of nice evergreen where the beech was (want it for more privacy). I planted all of this at the end of summer/fall last year so it was an *easy* job.

Next will be raking, aeration, overseeding, then some fertilizer... I need more hours in the day! lol

MC 03-24-2012 01:04 PM

ive been at it all week.... last week i put down some black mulch all the way around the house ( all by my self..took 6 trips in the frontier) and put out some new solar lights like i do every year..... the grass is really starting to come in and its a lot to keep up...im mowing like every other day now..... today im gonna try to round up everything to get control of the weeds

but all in all its getting there..

was thinking about having the scary well from the ring removed but then i realized its solid rock all the way down like 100 feet...i thought it was just a cosmetic well on top then like a pipe.... so i think im gonna build like a japanese themed pagoda over it with some plants or something

Last week set the McLane at 1/2" and took the top off. This week I'll hit her with some balanced fertilizer from Lesco.
