I'm waiting for a tree to get delivered today. I bought it last week, hand picked from a dozen, best looking one of the bunch and I get a phone call today.... They lost my tree... The guy says to me, I'll just pick another one for you, I'm like, no, I looked all,the trees over and wanted the one I picked, do you best to find it... Still waiting... :shakes head:

I know! That's what I said. Ended up having to go back and picking out a new tree. A little disappointed but hey, poop happens. Got the new tree delivered right away and planted

It's a Vanderwolf's Pyramid Pine. It gets 15' high with a 10' span. It'll be perfect for some added privacy when it grows up. Right now it's ~6' tall. Also nice to have some colour in the back yard during the winter months. You can see my hydrangea's are still bare, waiting on the warm weather.

I've been busy the last couple of weeks.
Lots of mulch spread around and flowers planted.

Awesome looking yard Luna. Wish you were one of my neighbours.

Mr&Mrs 07-15-2012 04:07 PM

I cut, weed eated, edged, blew off the driveway/walkways and treated the yard with turf builder plus bug defense. I just had it all re-soded a couple months ago its nice to sit back and look out over the yard to the water we are on.

How ever I am very jealous of all the northern grass photos you guys are posting I love to feel it under my toes when I visit family. The two types of grass aloud where I live sucks!

Thanks, guys!
My neighbours have a love/hate relationship with my yard. They like looking out their windows at my yard, but it makes theirs look like crap, especially with the lack of rain we've had lately.
Water bill? I just take fewer showers and put off washing my clothes so I can afford to water my grass :icon17:

My neighbours also think I'm a little kooky because I run around my yard with a "big" camera and a reflector dish trying to get good shots of the butterflies and other insects that come to visit.

And what types are those? Probably Bermuda and Zoysia? Or maybe St. Augustine? Bermuda can be a beautiful grass when maintained at 1" or less. It has that fairway feel and is like a sponge under your feet.

nabenson 07-17-2012 12:14 PM

I peed on it. You know, to fertilize.

LunaZ 04-13-2013 05:15 PM

Fertilized it two weeks ago before Easter.

Today was the first mowing!

6MT 04-13-2013 05:23 PM

I shovelled some more snow onto it today!

Mr&Mrs 04-13-2013 05:30 PM

I really let me yard go over the winter. This will be a rental home though in about 6 weeks so that is part of the reason. I cant wait to get in the new house with a brand new yard to start with.

Moved six yards of mulch into the flower beds around the house, and cut/trimmed the grass before the rain this morning.

I fear my spreader may have dropped some heavy loads of weed and feed on my lawn, causing some brown, burnt spots.
I hope they come back.

You're lucky you can use weed and feed. Our wonderfully protective government decided weed control is dangerous for us and banned it from use... Unless you own a golf course :ugh2:

Can you hire a private company to apply it? Or is it banned completely? With our new yard I decided to let a pro handle it from the start so I cant mess anything up :icon17:

If I was thinking I would have bought some weed control when I was in the U.S. a couple months ago. Anyways, I'm trying a private company this year to see if the results are any better than what I've been doing, even though they have restrictions for the type of weed control they can use. It's not as effective as the "real" stuff.
