ok real question here.... do you get better gas mileage by keeping a steady foot or by using cruise control on long trips at highway speeds?

Depends. If your road is flat, you'll see better mileage using cruise. In hills, a steady foot will help.

Good luck on finding anything on me. I keep everything off the internet, yet am on it all day. ;)
I always thought cruise control was worse for your MPG at highway speeds, because your car will slow down while going downhill and speed up while going up.

i heard for best gas mileage is little spurts of acceleration and then coast for a bit is the way to go.

so spurt...coast.....spurt....coast.....etc

I never use cruise control, ever!! But I'm driving to Ohio today and it's about a 13 hour drive. So I should cruise control most of the way except through west virginia? I'm gonna put this to the test and let you know when I get back how it went

nogoodname 08-07-2009 10:04 AM

put mine to the test?

cow 08-07-2009 10:05 AM

I use cruise control in neighborhoods, lol.

nogoodname 08-07-2009 10:08 AM

i never use cruise control, it's just not meant for Montreal roads.

ppl cut you off, so slam the brakes and cruise control is off.....then there's the cars that cause traffic......too common to get cut off is my point

Shunya 08-07-2009 10:08 AM

lol i've never used Cruise Control in my life :(

nogoodname 08-07-2009 10:10 AM

my cars don't have control over my cruising

cow 08-07-2009 10:10 AM

I'll never own a car without it.

nogoodname 08-07-2009 10:11 AM

i like to pedal to the metal

theDreamer 08-07-2009 10:12 AM

Have used mine once in my Z going to Austin. Road was fairly flat and I was in no mood to really push the speed, just a nice drive.
