I'm indifferent at this point. I was all about anything Google made before Chrome came out. Gmail was so much better than any other free email service (& really still is), but Chrome never did anything I couldn't do with Firefox that made me feel I had to switch. I had a T-Mobile G1 & hated it, though I think that was more an HTC (the phone's maker) than Google issue.

I'm interested to see what happens & think competition is rarely a bad thing, but aside from something absolutely groundshaking in the operating system, I doubt I'll be making the switch.

All that said, I (& many others) are paying attention, which is good news for Google in a bad economy.

TX_370 07-08-2009 03:42 PM

I definitely favor Google in the scheme of things. With that being said, I do agree Chrome did not do much for me either; I still use Mozilla.

As for the G1, I have the phone and absolutely love it.

X2 for Android.

The Android for the G1 is a very nice OS, I was always a WIN Mobile OS guy, and I've used Symbian, but Android wins, at least on the Mobile level because it actually runs without glitches. Its made for a mobile, not adapted to be mobile.

nogoodname 07-08-2009 03:56 PM

i use Mozilla, sounds like a type of cheese

semtex 07-08-2009 03:59 PM

TX_370 07-08-2009 04:00 PM

The Google OS to me is them just taking their mobile OS and bring it up to a larger screen interface. Take the iPhone interface style and put it on a 24" screen basically, would run great and is super light weight. Probably one of the many reasons they will only be bringing this to netbook/touchscreen tablets (such as the Archos line) first.
Other Google products I have enjoyed over the years, Gmail (joined in 05), documents I started using last year, etc. Chrome brought some new heat to the field in web browser but it is to light weight still. Now Google just needs to let the users (such as Firefox does) add a little and it could quickly start taking some market share.

I believe Google's plan, one reason they are bring so many things about of beta (first Chrome now gmail/documents) is to hit the corporate world. To really make it and take on Microsoft you need to get some major support from big companies and not just your home user (home user will just buy what is cheap).

Dreamer, you have excellent points... However, you forgot to answer one important question: Mozilla = Cheese?

I hate lazy people. Too lazy to search. Too lazy to just look through some threads. Would rather just post a new thread with "Can someone give me recommendations for xyz?" F-ing tools. *sigh* okay, rant over. feel better now.

nogoodname 07-08-2009 05:09 PM

ok.....mind is made up....going to buy a Z maybe end of next year.

but for now, i need a car with some space for my dad's wheel chair.
i'm looking at a MazdaSpeed 3 hatchback.

some of you guys may remember my dad was hospitalized for quite some time and now is at the point where i can take him out, so i need space to put his custom wheel chair.....i got him a black one with sport bolstered seat and gun-metal finish hand rail on the wheels with low profile tires, not mention i dropped it for lower center of gravity, better control/handling.

semtex 07-08-2009 05:13 PM

Pics of the wheelchair?

shumby 07-08-2009 05:15 PM

lol drop the chair lower amd put some 24: spinnerson it

nogoodname 07-08-2009 05:18 PM

lol....

here's the plan...

449.96 for a netbook

plan is to use coupons to save...which are stackable.

so, 50 off 200, 25 off 75 and 20 off 150.

so, 200 + 150 + 75 = 425 and 50 + 25 + 20 = 95

so 449.96 - 95 = 354.96 total.....not bad

nogoodname 07-09-2009 09:03 AM

brb.......gotta go

Looking to buy Asus 1000HE, does walmart have that model?

xiven 07-09-2009 09:19 AM

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I know its an ASUS just don't know the model. Shopping sites are blocked here at work so I can't check. I usually just look on my iPhone but I just realized I left home without my cell. :shakes head:

nogoodname 07-09-2009 09:23 AM

The asus 1000he is selling like hot cakes!! 9.5 hr battery life is claimed.
Not bad, need a light weight thing to toss in
my school bag. or if I can't get it with the coupons, I'll get the lenovo one then. I have someone employee code for discount. Works for Canada and US.

nogoodname 07-09-2009 09:24 AM

Leaving home without cell will make you feel disoriented all day.
