Default Bathroom hand washing etiquette

Just came back from the bathroom. Funny thing happened (try not to let your minds go downhill just yet).

As I was walking in to use the urinal, someone was just coming out of a stall. He looked at me briefly and realized I was someone he knew. He was heading straight out the door when he must have realized that he didn't wash his hands and that I saw him leaving without washing them. He came back over to the sink after about a 5 second pause and washed them (well threw some water on them quickly and then left the bathroom).

Just throwing this out there. Wondering how often this happens. Seems some people feel obligated to wash their hands when leaving the bathroom ONLY when someone else is there and has seen them.

Personally I always wash my hands no matter if someone else is in the bathroom or not because I'm slightly OCD about that kinda thing for some reason.

I know, seems like an episode of Seinfeld or Curb.
