Hate on facebook
I know i'll get more hate than The FaceCrap, but that's ok i just think it's a popularity contest. Look how many friends I have, look how many people liked what I said/posted. People to day (mostly young peeps) think that everyone wants to know what they are doing all the damn time. This is not true, all my friends that are my age (30's) use it aswell so i don't think it's the age thing. I just think it's dumb, i've never used it as i know how to use the damn phone to talk with the people i know. I get the same lame answers from the people i know like, "I use it to reconnect with old friends" if you were really friends you would have never lost track to begin with. Or "I meet so many women (or men whatever the case may be) on there you just don't know." Well incase you haven't noticed the world is very over populated and people have been hooking up for thousands of years as proof of such. Some people get their feelings so hurt that they kill themselves, or beat the other person up and/or kill them. All this over what some azz clown has said in print, it's just words people. "Sticks and stones, may break my bones but WORDS will never hurt me." I know some will say, "well your on this site and it's a type of social network." This is true, but atleast we are on here mostly for info and/or to connect with others that have 370's. If my friends were into cars i'd just hang with them. Well i could rant for hours about this, but any longer of a post and most won't read.

I 100% agree. I can't even add anything to your statement.

but seriously... I hate twitter even more.. its like WTF? do i care what you are doing every five minutes? nope, thats why I don't have a twitter account.
FB however has allowed me to reconnect with friends from back in middle school so its legit |
lol... You sound like my dad. People back in the day probably said the same thing when the phone was invented and became popular. "Why talk on the phone and not face to face?"

dude lets be friends on facebook |
its all just textbook narcissism! Especially with all the pointless updates about your personal life: "Oh i have a headache, will be taking some advil" so and so likes this, stupid replies like, oh hope you feel better or I hate headaches too...dumb ******* ****...
|
I need more friends so the size of my mafia can reach 501 in Mafia Wars.
:rofl2: (seriously....I do) |
regardless facebook/myspace and the like are a complete waste of ips and bandwidth. I'm guilty of having an account and have been debating deleting it for some time now. I never post anything there, I only end up reading about how some idiot picked two tomatos from the garden or some other retarded similar thing. Its like really? Where you thinking to yourself while picking the tomatos "oooh, I'm so posting this on fb when I get back inside! My friends are going to be sooooo jealous or happy for me!" wtf....
|
I like it bc it keeps me occupied at work  haha
along with 370z.com or course :driving: |

Most of my new "friends" are people I went to high school with and have not seen since graduation in 1978. These are mostly people who were not even my friends back then, but we are friends now, I supppose. Facebook has become this morbid pleasue for me -- like having a People magazine sitting around. I really don't care what's happening with people on Facebook, or with the bubble headed celebrities who grace the pages of People. I can't help myself sometimes. I have to look, even though it neither improves my knowledge, skills or life in general. Just a few thoughts. |
Who cares. It's just something to read- I use it to message people because it's easier doing it there than juggling a bunch of random email addresses that most of the people don't even check.

I only like to add real friends, not just random acquaintances. I might be too busy to hang out with these ppl, but we can still communicate. None of my friends do this update on every moment of my life thing, so I guess that's why I don't really hate fb. It has actually helped me reconnect with friends that went to different colleges after high school. Also helped me find some friends from my childhood who I actually went to hang out with in person. One more thing, it helps me stay In contact with family overseas. It's a much easier way to see pics and stuff than emailing back and forth. :) |
Yeah like texting/phone call and/or email is SOOOooooo F-ing hard to deal with. Good luck when it's time to enter the real world where you have to talk to people in person face to face.

Fb = post whoring to the world :)

This thread can be moved to the Lounge any time now. I don't see how it's 370Z related and thus doesn't need to be in the General Discussions.

I can sum up my opinion in three words:
DEAL WITH IT. |
Instead of deleting my account, I've just "un-friended" people I didn't really talked to. I like having it to keep in touch with family, especially when they're on the other side of the planet. A lot of people with over 1k "friends" will friend anyone just because. It kind of defeats the purpose.

There is a 370Z in Cartown now on FB.
|
Nobody really uses it to pointlessly update each other about what cereal they had for breakfast, it's more of just a casual way to keep in contact, share pictures, and kind of help keep your social life organized.
I thought Twitter was totally pointless too...but it's actually kind of a neat way to quickly get information such as pressing news stories, product updates, and celebrity gossip. Maybe the last one is pointless... |

Facebook can be very helpful/useful if you use it the right way. Abuse it and it becomes a useless waste of time. |
you know they have actually proven (i can't remember where i heard it, i think on the news or something) that the younger generation today is so overconnected to the computer screen/phone/social media that when it comes to face to face time or job interviews, they have difficulty making eye contact with people now?? and are losing jobs as a result? it's pathetic! doesn't matter how many degrees you have, if you can't make it face to face.... you're done!
100 years of school, millions of degrees, 0 interpersonal communication skills = FAIL |

I use it for what it is convenient for, but I spend less than 15 minutes a day on it. I prefer to waste my time on forums, rather than facebook.
