So who pays for the cars? Are they real ppl with their own cars or are they type casted drivers that get a car?

They are real people driving their own cars. All the sponsors that are on the side are speedchannel's sponsors. They are competing for money. I remember one of the guys commenting on how the damage to his car (lambo) was almost as much as the prize money.
