Yeah I noticed that too, the good news is i got gold so far on all of them on my first try except for one which took 2 tries. Time isn't really important until last round though right? You just have to keep getting at least bronze.

From playstation blog:

Quote:

The last stage of this eight-week competition will serve as the finale—Round 8, Event 5—where it all boils down to one FINAL online time trial challenge. Only the fastest lap times will go up on the national leader boards, so in order to move up in the rankings, you must continually improve your performance. Take all the key driving techniques that you have acquired from each of the trials, and unleash them in Round 8, Event 5. Your performance here will determine if you have what it takes to move on to the GT Academy 2012 National Finals.

So it seems like we will be doing events like round 1 and 2 up until round 8, event 5. Event 5 will be the time trial that actually matters for ranking.

i did both rounds in about 20 mins i think got gold on the first try on all of them.. the only one i kept redoing was 2-5 as it was sort of run overtaking the 2 cars... i did it like 5 times and got a 40.xx and just left it at that

yeah these first 2 rounds seem to be very easy.

played with the wheel the first time, man it's tough to figure it out. very different from a controller. I like the more realistic feel though.

I'm having the same problem.I got a DFGT today also. The pedals are the hardest thing to get used to.

I have all gold trophy's in GT Academy, how do I get the prize cars (leaf & silvia) I won in GT5? It's not under 'delivery' or whatever that is.

haven't taken a stab at it yet but i'm planning on sitting down and doing a few runs soon.

I looked at the rankings and the top us time seems crazy. No one came within .21 seconds but there are like 50 within .001 after that

Motegi is a great track for this comp. I forget my time but after about 10 laps last night I had the 768th fastest time. I quit after looking at the requirements to make it into the GT academy finals. Seems my prior DUI conviction would prevent me from doing so.

H'm interesting that they put that In there. Does a dui conviction stay on your record forever or a certain time?

they will show up in GT5 after july 4th

ZMan8 06-28-2012 12:01 AM

so guys how did you do? I managed to get gold in 8-5 but only cracked top 5000 :) spots. Those top times seem crazy

MC 06-28-2012 12:55 AM

1:33.651 for a full lap thats all i had... on my best runs i would be about .5 secs ahead of my best ghost on the first half of the track but i would always lose the lead on the second half of the track and even get passed going into the 2nd to last turn.. i figured i wasnt going to get a full second better when i would only be taking thousands off at a time so i gave up..

it was frustrating.. i can handle myself around a track in the real world and if cars drove like how they had that thing set up we would all be dead in a ditch somewhere

DEpointfive0 06-28-2012 02:00 AM

Who has a Chaparral 2J I can borrow? You can put it on Internet loan thing so you don't even lose control of it, I can just borrow it for a race...

Versa_Drifter 06-28-2012 03:04 AM

I've still haven't gotten past the GTR(R32) yet. Which stage do you drive the Z?

Forever in most states... A violent crime conviction is less likely to follow you around and can be expunged from your record.

In Michigan after 5 years: Assault = Expungable; DUI = Still paying for it!
Kinda BS, IMO. :) I have a couple friends who have lost potential career paths, etc because of a stupid decision or simple ignorance (most people don't know where the limit really is).

I noticed something very similar where I would always be 1-2 seconds ahead of my ghost first half of the lap but then fall back last few turns...

I was very far from top spots so I just gave up and accepted gold as good.

:iagree: about the car is setup horribly. The rear breaks out too easily.

for me i would try to run my best lap every time so i would be running full out every lap and that usually meant me going off or hitting a cone somewhere in the first half that or getting one turn wrong and having too much distance between me and my ghost and just retrying..so i think all that added up to me doing the first half of the track many many more times than the second half thus i without knowing it got better at the first half and thats why i believe i would lose my lead toward the end

Good theory, I can see that being my reason as well. It was frustrating to get a 5 car length lead on my ghost, all to lose it on the last few turns :shakes head:

Any of you guys playing this game with a Wheel setup? I recently got the Logitech G27 that has a Wheel with forcefeedback, a 6 speed shifter and pedals (gas, brake, clutch) and i have to say, its pretty freaking awesome! hahaha. Just thought I would share that with you... Cant stop playing GT5 now because of it. its like a whole new game...

Wheel with 3 pedal setup, 6sp gear changer, and Playseat racing chair! Got it right after Forza 4 came out and I've been using it for both.

Damn!! that playseat is serious haha.. Typically I would say, "if I had the money...." but seeing how awesome a setup it is, in reality its "if i had the ROOM...." I need a mancave!

Well, I started GT5 over but if anyone wants to race... Pelican170 on PSN if you ever see me on...

I have the gt wheel. So only 2 pedals. But eventually want a seat + the Logitech g27. Hypothetically though don't you get faster lap times using 2 pedals (left.foot.on brake right on gas) and sequential shifter.
