Linksys router. Where I took the ethernet cable that connects the router to the cable box and plugged my laptop to the cable box I was able to connect that

Linksys router. Where I took the ethernet cable that connects the router to the cable box and plugged my laptop to the cable box I was able to connect that way. But the guy at Optimum said that its something with my router. I called Linksys and they are trying to charge me $30 for them to try to help me on the phone. Ridiculous.
