Do you stick to the 2 cubes max rule?

With my icemaker, the cubes are a little smaller and sometimes come out broken, so no. The key for me here is that my ice and water is filtered, so there is no commercial water or chlorine taste to the ice...... when it melts the drink tastes the same, albeit slightly diluted. Some drinks I like a slight melting effect. I enjoy B&B on the rocks as an after dinner drink, and outside of dead of winter, which doesn't happen here much, I like it on the rocks....... so I'll pour it into the snifter and add some ice, once it melts a little I actually enjoy it more. Maybe not 100% proper, but still good.

When I lived on City Island in NYC, I worked as a busboy in a fancy restaurant. Lots of celebs ate there cuz they had their yachts on the island.

Sinatra had his enormous yacht there. When he came in to the restaurant, the waiters all knew never EVER give him a drink with anything but four ice cubes in the glass.

Well, if it's good enough for a gentleman of his stature, surely I can get away with more than 2.

It really depends on my mood and everyone has their own individual preferences.
The "neat" purists are too rigid and absolute in their position. Sometimes I like a cube or two, sometimes I don't. It often depends on whether it's a hot summer day, or if I'm cozying up by the fire. For some whiskeys, a little water "opens up" the flavour.
You might not enjoy Glenlivet Nadurra 16 without a splash of water. It's cask strength.

Way I see it, if your ice is watering down your drink, you aren't drinking fast enough.

Hah! I admit, with some things (Scotch is a good example), I do drink pretty slowly.

I enjoy a very fine Tequila that has been shaken and chilled, then poured into a snifter. Try it some time, it's as good as the finest single malt or even cognac. Some faves: Cabo Uno Reserva Aňejo, Don Julio Real Aňejo

Speaking of Scotch, we may be headed to Scotland and England this summer y'all can bet I'll be stopping by a distillery or three.

I like premium Tequila both ways, neat, as well as chilled into the snifter..... all depends on my mood. Hard to go wrong either way IMO.

Seriously? I'll give her a go based on your word, but it seems very counterintuitive.

I'm not a whiskey fan, I do love my dark rums, but never really worried about the ice cubes...

I don't drink much rum, I understand there are some premium, high end rums being produced now, that are meant to be taken straight. Do you do any of those in the dark variety?

Appleton Estate (12 year old) is good rum and can be used as a sipping or mixing rum...

Of course you can go much more expensive, I've never tried those...
But in the spirit (phun intented ) of this thread, 1440 bottles made:

Now that's what I was talking about, meant to be sipped and savored neat, like a good brandy
