The Jan 6th loiterers got solitary confinement while our “impartial” DOJ slow walked their trials for over a year until they could sentence them to prison for years. They’re not even trying to hide their bias anymore. Disgusting… these clowns have turned us into a banana republic.

Yup. The gun charges alone should be a mandatory 3-5yrs. But the Bidens have white privilege.

The tax charges dropped to a misdemeanor is hilarious. Anyone else would serve time for that. Just ask Wesley Snipes. Racist democrats charging him yet let a while man walk with only misdemeanors.

Feds are a complete joke. They only hit him with these "minor" ones also when there is a much larger picture they are completely ignoring just so they can wipe this all under the rug.

Let this happen to a Trump and I guarantee you there is no plea bargain and IF there was it would still be mandatory jail time.

I mean, you do understand that regardless of the technology we have, the weather still can't be accurately predicted, because the probabilities these models deal with are just such, that basically anything goes. It's not even anyone's fault.

Think of it as trying to accurately predict what will be the layout of 50 balls colored in 10 colors, after the balls are dropped from the 5th floor, over several stairsets, ending in a funnel that draws them in the cup. You can predict probabilities, sure...but can you tell WHICH ONE will actually happen?

My question for you is more like - would you be happier if we had no weather forecast at all? Because these guys are doing the best they can. And yeah, it sucks....but that's the best we can do. Weather can't be better predicted.

If weather forecast was just limited to "We will get rain today" and if it doesn't, that's one thing.

But if you're telling the general public to evacuate one area and go to another due to a massive natural disaster, and that natural disaster goes to where people are told it's supposed to be safe, and results in a catastrophic loss of life/property, yeah not so good.

We can successfully send people to the moon and rovers to Mars, which BTW has tons of unknown variables and is thousands upon thousands of miles away, but we can't narrow down where winds/rain will go over a course of a few hundred miles? :gtfo2:

Meteorologists go to school for this. There are known variables to factor in.

It will sell at first. Just like the Beyond Meat. Then sales will fall when people realize just how much more it costs over real meat. Couple of the companies that make the fake meat are losing money. Because of sales fell off a cliff. :rofl2:

"The Titanic submersible was going down nearly 13,000 feet. Just how deep in the ocean is that?"

We have the ability/technology to send people to the moon and rovers to Mars, which are thousands upon millions of miles away, and have the capabilities to track them so they don't get lost. Yet, we can't track a vehicle on our home turf that is less than 3 miles down underwater? Are there not any in-case-of-emergency functionalities on these things?

Listen, take the following as a given, because these are the facts:
1. You can't predict the weather with 100% confidence. You can't, forget it.
2. Nobody can guarantee safety from hurricanes, force majeur events etc.

Now with those two in mind....would you rather that you have a newscaster who says:

"Hurricane is underway, we expect it will go throught states A, B and C, we got no idea if it will go to other states like C, D, E, good luck folks."

or would you like something like:

"Hurricane is underway, we expect it will go throught states A, B and C, we think that states like C, D, E are safe, to the best of our knowledge."

Because the first one will get them legally off the hook, and I dunno, you'll be happy? But what will happen is panic, a lot of people AGAIN hoarding stuff and idiots spreading everywhere......so they are doing the second, but you'r angry because nobody guarantees safety.

I mean think about it for a moment.

Correct.

It's much easier to secure someone from vacuum than from the depths and crazy pressures that are experienced in the bottom of the Mariana trench for example.
It's much easier to track and communicate to people in space, where there are NO OBSTACLES for radio wave communication, whereas in the sea, the opposite is true.
Thirdly, we have mapped the whole moon, because all you need is a telescope. To map the ocean floor, what do you think is necessary? That's a question for you to answer.

With the first two answers that I've given you, and the third one you can answer yourself -> you will answer the whole conundrum that bothers you.
Spoiler alert:
( Click to show/hide )
YES, IT'S EASIER TO PUT PEOPLE ON THE MOON THAN TO FIND A BLOODY TINY SUBMERSIBLE ON THE OCEAN FLOOR.

DaveZ03 06-22-2023 08:17 AM

Looks like we've only mapped <10% of the global ocean, to filip00's point.
