That fact that you'll be doing most of the work yourself is saving you a lot of money for labor.... you could now spend on more hardware! :happydance:
Good job JC. Progress!

Yeah, planning to deliver before months end...just coordinating errthing :ugh2:
Pickup in the background isn’t going anywhere yet; as I have to pull engine in it as well :wtf2:
Gonna drive dad’s 10yr old Taco w/40k on the clock  As it needs to have it’s legs stretched, as I perform all the maintenance on it as well.
As far as spending on hardware; I’ll pass on commenting :owned:
Lotta work left to do, as I’m gonna repair pickup before Z comes back in garage...then it’s getting major surgery :eek::eek:

Have you replaced that O2 sensor?

It just seems like these weekends fly by faster and faster.

Have a great day all. Remember not to stop moving blades or gears with your hands or genitals, always use somebody else's.

Eugene is a nice enough guy. But yeah lack of experience is a bit concerning. A tune is not exactly the place I want to cut corners on. Although I know that Ecutek knock sensor is a weird one for some people. You gotta do a little work to be sure it's just overly sensitive sensor and not actual knock.

Well, what ya gonna do if you have detonation and your knock sensor doesn't pick it up? With E85, that can happen. Blow a headgasket, break a ring land, and the engine shows signs of detonation but you don't see in your logs. Mostly happens to folks on pump E85.
My engine builder told me to be on barrel E85 if running the higher boost settings. Ignite Red or Ethanol One R.

Well, I'm hoping to be up and running by Spring 2021... Motor is already in the works, Mazworx that is :) , but that's not going to be the hold up it seems. The FI TT stage 2 kit is the biggest wait (figure another 4 months)but my order is already placed. With that said, I know to expect the unexpected but as of right now things are ahead of schedule.

I'm envious of you Joby as there's nothing more satisfying than doing the work yourself and reaping the rewards. There's a lot to be said about taking your time and doing it right your own way especially someone who's got the skill set/mind set that can easily accomplish this. Also having the full complement of tools helps too!

I realize it can be an issue with pump E85 due to the randomness of the ethanol content. But there have been a couple of NA guys who had similar issues and weren't running E85. I think they both ended up lowering the sensitivity on the knock sensor on the advice of their tuner. Trying to remember who they were and which tuners. But I can't find it right now.

Elmo370z had the same problem. Seb was tuning it. Put on the SOHO oil catch can setup and that solved it. Knock was gone. I would never reduce the sensitivity of the knock sensor. That is not an option. You got to know the hardware to understand what the software is telling you.

From my understanding there is a difference between how sensitive the OEM ECU reads the knock sensor and how sensitive Ecutek reads the knock sensor. Sometimes the Ecutek software detects knock even when the OEM ECU does not. This discrepancy is the problem a few folks are encountering IINM. So it's really just a software programming thing and not the actual sensor sensitivity - I realize I did not post that clearly at all. Also, please note that I'm no expert but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before :twocents:

Can confirm. I've had the CEL on a few times for knock after EcuTek tuning, and set up my bluetooth interface to verify. Turns out, the knock sensor reads my flywheel engagement when I shift as knock, particularly when I'm forced to do frequent gear changes in stop and go traffic on I95. A little reading showed other people have had this issue in the past.

If he’s getting that bank 1 lean code then it’s the fuel trim sensor in the manifold collector. Only two of those four you pulled out would work. Thankfully you can get to that bank 1 from the top with the appropriate number of extensions on your ratchet.

Got to drive my Z today. First time in 45 days.

I had detailed it really well and put it on the trickle charger and under cover prior to me going into the hospital. I even explained to my wife how to sell it in case the worst happened.

But alas, here I am. And it feels good...

Sort of like a sore dik, you just can’t beat it...
