Just looked at the weather for the week. Chance of storms and the high is dropping down in the upper 80's. Thank goodness, about time.

JARblue 08-17-2020 06:28 PM

Alternator on the Lexus is replaced. Removal and reinstallation took about an hour. It was almost like I knew what I was doing

Starts and runs like a champ again :driving:

They will work but in a load range G, hell no. I use a commercial tire on my horse trailer, Goodyear G614. I am going with a Michelen XRB rib, I think it is, for the car trailer when the time comes.

You’re running 14-ply tires on that one :tiphat:
We have a few tag trailers with the same tires on it, not because of the load...but the extra ply, as they’re HD for sure

We run load range G on everything. Very rare to have a blow out and we wear out axles/springs as fast as tires on most of the deck overs.

Yes got it adjusted with the car inside the trailer. Got the hitch ball higher by 1/2 inch from the coupler top portion as indicated at the Reese instruction manual.

The only issue is my truck is lifted by 4 inch.

Would that matter? Got an adjustable shank too.

Maybe I just got a defective tires.

You said a ST with 10 ply would work with my 20 footer?

What's the brand name on the tires? What size are there? what's the total weight of the trailer?

madwi 08-17-2020 09:26 PM

Made me chuckle.

Goodride is the tire brand 225/75 15’s ST 10 ply

Gross trailer weight capacity 10,000lbs
With car on it about approximately 8,500lbs
Weight of trainer empty 3,600lbs

The fat RCF weighs 4,900lbs
My 2 nuts a quarter an Oz.

Worst Tire Brands to Avoid Purchasing:
Chaoyang.
Goodride.
Westlake.
AKS Tires.
Telluride.
Compass Tires.

Top 3 tires for trailers:
Michelin
Goodyears
Bridgestones.

2 things to look for in a tire.
Load capacity.
Speed rating. A lot of trailer tires are only rated up to 65 mph.

I did; as the E load-range tire is factory sizes for that trailer & adequate, pending quality of tires.
The Goodyear Endurance Trailer service tires are rated just over 2800# each@80psi
We haven’t had trouble with those on our cargo trailers :ugh2:
The tires that I was referring to on Spoolers horse trailer are most likely 235/85/R16’s, as those are available in 14ply (G-load range) & HAF :icon14:
Those are on a few deck over trailers that see off road action, bounce off curbs & errthing else....just abused :iagree:
Run those tires at max cold tire pressure & as level as possible, as Spooler mentioned.
Measure the ground clearance on each side at front & rear vs using a level....+ a tick high is better in front vs being low up front; that will wag the dog :nutswinger:
Properly loading is another thing; keep weight forward & let your big truck handle so of the spread :ugh2:
I currently have a small 5x9 tag trailer w/ ShingShang’ s on it & a Goodride spare from Tractor Supply..ST205/75/15 ... I’m thinking C load range (6ply) :wtf2:
No where the weight you’re hauling; but you’ll be fine with the GY’s,as your hubs can’t hardly withstand the increased weight of the 14-ply 16” wheel/tire combo :iagree:

Low 60s this morning, so I :driving: the Z today

Looks like I have a new project, engineered floors in the family room...:eekdance:
240 sq. feet, a rectangular room (well, at least as 'square' as they get built these days), there's carpet on concrete, so the only issue might be a concrete floor that's not level. :ugh2:

Now to move the desk, a recliner and a 75 (?) gallon aquarium.....:eekdance:

I poked around looking at tires for my car trailer yesterday. Best one is the Goodyear Endurance and they are rated for 87mph. Suck it up and get the load range E's but they do offer the load range D's. They are cheap compared to the Goodyear G614.
I never set to max PSI unless I am loaded at the limit. I set at 10psi lower than max for normal use. Oh yeah, weigh your chit on a certified scale loaded. That way you know what you have weight wise per axle.
