You told me those ladies were the ones you picked up at the Key West Fall Festival. You took them back to your room, and they had their way with you. You have to take EW down there. Bet he will have a swinging time. :nutswinger:

Elliott was 12 years. Every place else, I was lucky to get 2 years in. I had to adapt with the times. Been a mechanic, machinist, welder, pipe fitter, blacksmith, gov't worker, armed security, drove armored car, CRO, BOP operators.

About a year ago, I read an article about times changing and with that includes the new norm of the typical worker in the US will maybe last 2 to 3 years in their position before jumping ship.

Jumping ship, or moving on to better things? The idea of staying at one firm for 30 years died when employers realized they could massively reduce liabilities by switching from pensions to 401k and related retirement matching programs. Totally severed the employer/employee relationship.

My dad spent 38 years with Republic Steel. Mine foreman, and retiring as mine superintendent. He retired at the age of 59.5. Only because he had a heart attack. Think he would have worked until age 65. He died at the age of 69. One month before his 70th b'day.

A little bit of both I suppose. The most I've lasted at an employer was about 5 years, and was with Kraft-Heinz. This was during the great recession, and they were cutting left and right. I jumped ship to another company, but wasn't much better, but had job security.

I agree with the pension/401k aspect, and I also think that the newer generations, myself included, have this sense of entitlement. Took me a while to realize that good things come from hard work and nothing will be spoon-fed to me. Props to the earlier generations on being able to last 10, 20, 30+ years at one employer.

Geez, I can't imagine being with one employer for 38 years. I'm sure your dad worked his tail off, while also being exposed to severe working conditions. Props and respect!

Is anyone else waiting on their guvment stimulus check? I updated my direct deposit info last week and still no updates. And I guess they track how often you check the status, as I was locked out for 48 hours because I "exceeded the number of times logging in".

When i worked for Duke Energy. We had people with 45 years of service. We figured that these people started right out of high school. Finish school one day, and was working the next.

Morning all, have a great Friday! May you be filled with all the bacon you desire, or in Zorens case, sausage.

asht 04-24-2020 06:05 AM

Good morning all.

Had my first telling off today. Did some shopping for my Mum and got her some sandwich fillings etc etc, “I didn’t want you to spend that much. “

It was more than contactless payment allowed so I paid for it. She is probably as stubborn as Michelle, so shall I just keep it to myself?

How is everyone today? Idea. Shall we try not to about the “V thing”
