The general public for the most part has been treating it very seriously here. My county has 800 in Quarantine and 250 people with Corona. Everyone outside is wearing a mask. It's primarily people like my dad who just have to go to the store every freaking day, old people who think they're exempt from all this, and groups of kids with no parental guidance to stay home.

I have left my house 4 times in the past 3 weeks. 1 grocery store trip, a trip to taco bell, a trip to refill the gas tank so it didn't sit, and a trip to pick up a medication refill. It's not difficult. People arr just morons and can't cope with being inside.

need opinions:

friends want to go golf sunday.

places have been diligent with safety precautions (employees with gloves, single person per cart, etc...) and i would love to golf but i feel like it's irresponsible maybe?

i mean we wont be close to each other, wipe down the carts with lysol wipes, they altered course to have raised cups so no touching flag sticks or inside the cups.

i mean how risky is it really? i know the 3 other guys i'd be going with.

i'm at a loss. am i being a good citizen by thinking its a dumb idea or is it just over-cautious and overthinking?

Just go with RE-71's.

What do you guys think? Need street/autox/track tires as long as I'm driving the Z to/from. Probably gonna have to be one of the first purchases. I'm sure those RE-11s that Hotrodz sold me have been heat cycled a few times and they've just been sitting since I purchased them. I bet one of the tires splits within a week of driving it :eekdance:

i've let RE-11s sit all winter on the car in the garage and had no issues when beating on it when it came back out in the spring.

just check them for any dry rot and should be fine.

Just because you know them doesn't mean you know where they've been or what they've been doing (literally why I don't shake people's hands). Personally, I wouldn't risk it, but I'm probably one of the few people who is enjoying the quarantine because I like watching extroverts break mentally.

my cup2's on the GTR have last great surprisingly.

4k miles and were originally 6/32nds new and only down to 5/32nds

They suck in the rain though. RE71's will do much better.

Same here. They can't handle it.

I don't see any problem with it if everyone is responsible. Very basic precautions can make a significant impact in your defense against transmission.

we went a few weeks ago even though i felt weird about it but i wore gloves, wiped down the entire cart area, kept distance, etc...

the course went above and beyond as well. carts were already in the parking lot spread out with personal parking space next to it, all employees gloved up and keeping away, only allowed 2 people in the clubhouse at a time to pay. seemed pretty well ran set up.

also the raised cup thing was a surprise but very smart move.

I purchased Chris' (Houston track guy) sport wheels a number of years back. They were wrapped with RE-11s with some track use but enough tread remaining for a few months on the street. One of them split on me 3 weeks later.

Nothing against the RE-11s. I just foresee a similar recurrence since the tires have a similar history. It is not a problem if something happens. Both times I was just buying the wheels and the RE-11 tread on them was just some bonus rubber for donuts as far as I was concerned :driving:
