We’ve got a 2010 Camry in there right now. Came in wanting just pads. Pulled the wheels and one side is metal on metal with a locked caliper, the other side is metal on metal on one pad, inside pad is completely missing with the piston popped out. :shakes head: how do people go for so long for that to happen. One hint I’m on the squeal clips and I’m changing pads, and probably rotors.

I break the squeal clips off my pov's; as i perform regular maintenance on them & want to ensure i get my money's worth out the pads :ugh2:

Aftermarket brakes are cheap for those cars...ranging 79-136 for basic to premium; from the NapaZone

What I hated was fixing someone else's fvck ups, and the half way jobs. They started a job and find out it's way over their head. :shakes head:

True. But the people who own it are broke. I feel for them but if they’d gotten them changed however long ago they wouldn’t be in this situation. Calipers cost the shop $51 apiece and we can get pads and rotors for $69.99. Gold ceramic pads and plain rotors. The way our percentages have to be make the job really expensive in the end though. Parts have to be 24% or less of the job. So I get a part that takes no time to put on for $20, I have to charge $100 for our percentages to be right. That’s one thing I hate about corporate office crap. I try to cut people breaks whenever I can. Tell them to get the part themselves and I’ll throw it on for free if it takes me 5 minutes. At the same time I work on hourly with commission bonus, so I do try to sell things that are needed.

Most definitely, having their stuff towed in because joe blow tried to put on a timing belt and it’s 180 out or something of the sort. Or when I get a car that used to be in the fast and the furious and has got a million wires running under the dash and through the engine bay and I have no clue what any of them do. XD

It’s a judgement call most times. If I can see they’re struggling I try to help them as much as I can. Sounds like I try to rip rich people off, but I don’t. Hahaha. Just have to make a judgement based on the situation. If I smell weed it’s automatically 10% increase. XD I’ve had so many people come in with their car smelling so strong of weed I can’t sit in it. My boss says if they have money for weed they have money to fix their car. They usually don’t fix it. Lol.

I work around the Police all day & you're working on weed-smoker cars? That stuff will make you look like this :ugh2::icon14:

I hated wiring jobs.

Where I worked at. We would get vehicles in that had critter damage. Nothing like cleaning out a dead mouse from the HVAC blower cage.

Guy comes in and says his 440 4 bbl runs like chit. Open the hood, Remove the air cleaner cover. Notice that the filter paper is missing. All that is left is the wire screen. Hmmmmm. Remove the air cleaner housing from the carb. Packed around the carb is the filter paper, pieces of vac hoses, wire insulation, and hood insulation. Start to remove all of this. Discover 13 cooked dead mice in this nest. Spend the next two weeks replacing all the vac hoses and rewiring things under the hood.

Used to see mice running around in one doctor's Caddy. :rofl2:

The best part is my boss used to be on the drug task force here in bibb county and in Houston county. I can’t stand the smell of weed and won’t get into a car that is really strong. I’m still on probation and don’t want any chance of that being on me. XD
