I will say it can be annoying to put on. Use the rounded end of a screwdriver to help push the matting into corners/curves

madwi 08-02-2017 08:34 AM

I think it is time for bed.

TheWolfe 08-02-2017 09:07 AM

reps out  how's everyone doing today?

I've got some leftover GT Mat Onyx I do not plan on using. It comes in 12"x12" squares. They sell the stuff for $12/square online, but I got the hookup via Ms. Pint a few years back when she was working for them. I think I've got at least 15 sheets you can have for cheap if you want. Just PM me :tiphat:

Damn. I just ordered from Amazon and it shipped. I appreciate the offer JAR> If this stuff doesn't work out well, I'll let you know.

JARblue 08-02-2017 10:15 AM

Although it sounds like you already ordered some.

And to be clear... Dynamat and similar butyl (or asphalt :ugh:) products are designed to reduce vibrations more than decibels. They are heavy and are not intended for full coverage as I have learned - sporadic application in key areas is all that should be needed. If you're looking to noticeably reduce decibel levels, you will need closed cell foam. It also weighs a lot less than dynamat, so you aren't adding 75 lbs of the stuff to your car's weight :twocents:

eastwest2300 08-02-2017 10:19 AM

sssup itches.

eastwest2300 08-02-2017 10:19 AM

rep courageously.

Mainly vibrations. Have some weird stuff happening in the hatch at speed. Really becoming annoying. The rest I will just experiment with in different areas.

You mentioned rattles, so it makes sense that you would be looking at some butyl to lay down. I just wanted to point out there is no need to go overboard with it. I did my entire hatch with the stuff, which was just totally unnecessary and did not help as much as I had hoped. You should never need to use 50+ lbs of the stuff like Clam mentions - you'll get much lower decibel readings with strategically placed butyl and full coverage in CCF. I learned the hard way.

I eventually decided not to go forward with anything else cause racecar. I'll be removing the stuff in the hatch at some point in the future - not looking forward to that.

I basically did the same thing - Ms. Pint was a rep for GT Mat and hooked me up with a lot for very little. After the install, my friend's audiophile/car enthusiast brother scolded me for weighing down my sports car unnecessarily :icon17:

Leingod 08-02-2017 10:51 AM

Reserved our ride on the disney magical express from when we arrive at the airport. I have the luggage tags and brochures being shipped to my gf's house to surprise her some more and get her more excited.

Good thing you're sound deadening your car - anything to minimize a visually rocking exterior?

Lifted 4x4 brotruck with a stiff suspension. (I just cringed typing that)

Leingod 08-02-2017 12:16 PM

Ever since Kernchan left, we have had a lot of new members popping up in here. It's no longer EW painus, Madwi gaming, leingod insanity, and OnZ flyovers.

Anyone talk to or heard from Njobe? He also has been gone for quite a while.

b15 08-02-2017 01:28 PM

Pho for lunch. Not the best choice on a hot day, but damn good! Now I want to nap

Leingod 08-02-2017 01:43 PM

Pho is never a bad option. We have an authentic vietnamese place that does homemade pho noodles. Out of this works. And real spring rolls with mint and vermicilli.

Although the generic pho place we also have does make amazing chicken lettuce wraps. Idk what seasoning or spices they use, but the chicken is downright mind blowing.

There is a 1978 280z for sale on the S30 FB group. It's in El Mirage, AZ and looks in great shape. Anyone here near there and would be willing to help a brotha out?
