Which has always been something mingboggling to me why they are allowed to overbook/oversell flights in the first place. You have a FINITE number of seats, once they are sold they are sold.

If somebody misses their flight, tough **** they paid for their seat.

If their employees need seats, book them!

It ain't rocket science.

My dad worked for TWA back in the day. When I flew on pass (free), I couldn't get on a flight unless there were open seats. The same with TWA execs; no open seats, they sometimes got to use the jump seats. Not a comfortable way to spend 5 hours in the air... :ugh2:

What is interesting is that United wanted to bump paying customers (really? I thought you were in business to make money) so that 4 employees could get to their scheduled location. Fix the schedule and move on, it should be relatively simple. This is a perfect representation of why flying sucks these days, (post 9/11), airlines are finally making a profit because of stupid fees, they figure they can be asshats to their customers and get away with it because 'captive market'....

considering i shipped a 50lbs musical keyboard about 7yrs ago cross country for like 150, exhaust shouldnt be dat much different if packed properly..?

yeah they were charging like $20-25 for packing per package and they wanted to put it in 3 packages. they wanted $400 just for one box which was 35lbs. i'm sure i can get it all packed in one large box maybe a 40x40x10 or two boxes at the most. just don't see how it would $600+ for the shipping.

They seem to have decent rates for large, bulky items.

Looking at some wicked tacky cheap wheels and some nice "all-season" tires for the Focus for the summer. Apparently can't get dedicated Summer tires on 915/15 wheels. May bump them up to 16's and see what is available.

I forgot how cheap these things are compared to the Z. Wheels and tires are cheaper than a normal set of tires of the Z.

I had a friend bitching about having to get four new tires on his sedan just last week. I was commiserating with him until I asked how much it was going to set him back. It was less than the price of two rear tires on the Z :gtfo2: :icon17:

I love listening to people who think all-seasons are the end all for tires. My dad could not wrap his head around why I would want a dedicated set of summer and winter tires. To him, it's just more money.

Then again, he believes every car should be AWD and can't ever get stuck with all-seasons. I really want to get some winter tires for the Z just to show him a RWD car can outperform a AWD SUV on all-seasons. Especially the junk kinds he buys. I'll pony up the extra $30 a tire to get pirelli's or bridgestones. He can stick with his Generals or Continentals.

May take a whack at replacing the motor mounts in the Focus this season as well. Everything vibrates rough at idle. Won't feel bad breaking a $3000 sedan. Good practice hahahaha

With FedEx you'll find shipping to be far less expensive just by signing up for an account with them. Then pack yourself, print the label, and just drop it off at any fedex or fedex office. I don't know if this is the case with other carriers, but I have an account with Fedex for this reason.

One way you might be able to game the system a little bit... selling something on ebay comes with pretty well discounted shipping rates. Set up a private auction to "sell" the exhaust for a dollar or something (to save on the auction fees) and print the label through ebay. Never done this, but the thought has crossed my mind for needing to ship large items in the future.

kenchan 04-11-2017 10:00 AM

Dat chili I had last night waz good. But brewing up inside.. :ugh:

Yea, but those are dedicated performance all-seasons. Not the low generic no name brand most people get.
