Any woodworkers here?

Just curious if anyone was into wood working. I am about to start on a small project making some floating shelves and got me curious if anyone else likes to putz around their shop.

When I was growing up, I used my Dad's radial arm saw, router, etc to make book shelves and such. Never anything fancy. Most complicated project was building an enclosure for an 8-track player that fit on the hump of an old Mustang. Haven't done anything worth mentioning in the last 35 years or so.

Lots of fun but a real PITA to cleanup. If you plan on working in a garage or other habitable area, invest in a good exhaust/filter system to keep dust and stray chips to a minimum.

I am running these for the dust and it helps a lot. Bonus shot of a nice walnut board that is going to be used for the shelves.

Thickness of the walnut and how are you going to mount your shelves? I like using French cleats for the big and heavy stuff around the house. They also make extra thin wall brackets but not sure how much they will hold.

French cleats work great

I use them in the garage for making racks to hang lawn care crap on.
These are going to be some shelves to hold small, decorative items and not serious weight. They are going to go on the wall by the tv in the game room. The boards I picked up are just hobby boards at 3/4"x3"x48" but I think I found a source locally that has some nice 4/4, 90/70 walnut lumber that I can finish in the shop. Tried to find a pic on google which can represent the internal mounting braces.

I am planning on building the mounts different but this pic gives the general idea.
