Just attach a dog leash to the bar in the hatch and other end to kids belt loop, they will be fine. I grew up bouncing off the ceiling of a station wagon, which explain a lot

I did buy one of these... though clearly I am vastly underutilizing it!

I use my cargo net to hold my sunshade down when not in use.
