I did something similar to get more cold air to the gen III. I did not notice a difference in noise but it made a 10 degree difference in IAT.

I'll make up some sort of port to deflect that airstream better towards the filters. If I have a chance (and the weather holds out for our run) I'll hook up my laptop and do a bit of logging and see what's going on under there.
