I seriously am at a loss here. Did someone vandalize my car, carefully making hail-like dings with zero paint damage?

Did I, someone who can spot bondo and dings half a mile away, somehow manage to miss this obvious-as-hell ding on the trunk and one on the hood, that I can actually SEE WHILE I AM DRIVING, before I bought the car?

Once I saw the one on the trunk, I found the one on the hood. I looked the car over carefully and found about 6 more at various points around the hood, and one more on the trunk, which are very small and which I possibly could have missed, but not the original one I found on the hood or the original one on the trunk it's SO obvious.

None of this makes any ******* sense whatsoever.

REALLY don't have time to drop the car off to get it fixed and all that, either.

OK back to your happy thoughts now.

Yeah I will get it PDR'ed for sure, but probably pay out-of-pocket. I'm hoping it wouldn't be much more than the deductible, so hopefully don't need to file a claim.

Mainly just the 2 dings in the trunk and one main one in the hood need to be done but hopefully everything could be done for ~$800.

I just totaled two cars with them about this time last year, I don't want to push my luck with the insurance company.

But, the first ding I saw in the trunk is SO ******* obvious, there is no way it was there before today.

It's not so much that I have to get a brand new car PDR'ed it's that I have no idea why or how. Like, it pretty much had to be that way when I bought it, or someone vandalized it. I'm not sure how you vandalize a car to look like hail dents and ding a car without scratching it so I'm guessing it was that way when I bought it, but how the hell can that be, I can't unsee this ding on the trunk, I look at the ******* trunk like 4 times every time I drive the car every day for the last two days GOD DAMN I AM SO ******* PISSED RIGHT NOW.

OK back to your happy thoughts now.

if it's shallow it's an easy fix for a PDR tech. do you park under a tree? ive heard of squirrels dropping stuff on the car and it dents the panels. its pretty crazy.

my GTI's got road wounds too already. tiny dent on the quarter arch line. cant PDR and being a black car i can see it from a faking mile away. i ended up spot bondoing it, wet sanded, and applied a matte black bandaid decal over it as my car is a comical shape to begin with. did the same on the other side to make it look like i meant to do it.

i was faking pissed too, but den looked at my dent/chip-free STI and 370Z and thought... dis is wat dd's are all about.

but on my ride, the whole faking side needs to be painted so i didnt feel like going through dat just yet. might get it fixed down the road, not sure. it's a dd, i dont care.

Davey 10-03-2016 06:36 PM

I just don't understand how/when it happened. :shakes head:

dude, it could of have been hail, maybe late at night, or if you park it under a tree, falling acorns.. it could have been anything.

Nope, no trees or anything near it like that. Telephone wire that birds like to sit on and then poop on it but that's about it.

I think the trunk ding can be fixed pretty easily. I agree about the DD thing, I didn't buy the car to keep it perfect but it's a little early for this ****. :icon17:

Yeah I guess you just can't leave a car outside and not have it get dinged up and stuff. :icon14:

yah, my car was dinged 3 weeks in, i fixed it, got dinged again on the arch which i couldnt fix, bodyshop also acknowledged needs bondo/paint, den hit a bird on the expressway scratched the fender, polished it, got scuffed with something on the door, polished.. etc

it's a never ending issue of faking bs. pretty soon snow, salt, rocks, etc. im sure it will be banged up pretty good.

Luke cage on Netflix and researching corner jacking. May do a test run tomorrow to see if I can fit a scissor lift on the front side jack point and get it high enough to also squeeze my jack under the front center area to lift the whole car up instead of doing each side and twisting everything.

i speak from experience. the answer is NO unfortunately. been lucky thus far not getting keyed. ive been keyed so many faking times its kinda funny.

Davey 10-03-2016 06:45 PM

Looks to me like around $50 a ding is fairly standard, so I'm looking at ~$125 for the trunk and if I get the 3 worst ones in the hood fixed another $175 so maybe not such a big deal.

Really just don't have time to deal with it right now so I guess for the moment I'm driving a car with hail damage. :shakes head:

eastwest2300 10-03-2016 06:46 PM

i'd have a heart attack if I got keyed...

hydroplaning is probably okay.. not sure about snow. it can handle a dusting but snow will require snow tires on a RWD..

eastwest2300 10-03-2016 06:46 PM

im out itches...

I run the Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3 on the Juke. We are on the second set. I replaced the first set with more than 40,000 miles on them and they still had 4/32" left.

That sucks but in a way, it makes me feel better I'm not the only one who can't drive a car every day and keep it looking tip-top.

Thanks kenchan.

Leingod 10-03-2016 06:48 PM

I'm crining having the daily the Z. Never would have thought an acorn could cause a dent. Sorry to hear about your car Davey. Don't park next to Kernchan. Sounds like he takes all the damage.

first time i got keyed i couldnt comprehend wtf happened to my car for a few min. den anger. den acceptance dat da general public is faking stupid.

same thing happened when my hobby car got hit by a faking shopping cart in the wind. i was furious. dat was when i decided to learn PDR.

kenchan 10-03-2016 06:50 PM

by da time bed frame hit my Z's rear bumper, i was like FU it didnt even hurt me. i just found a cool decal emblem thing to put over it.

Leingod 10-03-2016 06:52 PM

A ricor bandaid?

Leingod 10-03-2016 06:58 PM

May buy these. Should technically fit on the front for me to drive up on and (hopefully) give me enough room to slide my normal jack under to raise the whole front at once.
