I had to get two quotes to give to the transport company so i can get these scratches fixed. I think i am going to wait on my morning cup of coffee so i will be super easy to deal with on the phone.

I seriously thought one of our guys got hit with a cryptolocker virus. Help_Decrypt kept appearing on his document folders and his background image changed. Thankfully, MSE of all things quarantined most of the virus so nothing harmful got through. It just changed his wallpaper with dead links and saying his files were encrypted.

Aw, I missed out on the golf convo. Had a 2hr phone call with the lady... haha. All while getting paid. Yassss.

Almost lunch time though.

Oh, and I ordered a 64GB Nexus 6P. I'm done with this LG G4... couldn't pass up the deal for the 6P and didn't really want to wait for the new Nexus to come out (and pay even more for probably minimum upgrades).

I'm so tempted to pull the trigger on one. I can't stand my business iPhone 6 and my personal HTC One M8 is slowly starting to seize up with diminished battery and performance. I really am trying to hold out until Oct when Google does their I/O for the new Nexus lines.

Stop tempting me!!!!!!!!

Haboob 08-10-2016 01:30 PM

...I'm on my fourth LG G4. 1 because of overheating (like literally burning my thigh while in my pocket and not in use), and 2 because of the manufacturer defect with the ROM chip detaching and causing a bootloop (literally had to put it in the freezer to do a backup and transfer photos, etc.). Got the first one replaced, the next lasted 2 weeks before it did it again.

Now, this latest is okay, but still freezes every now and then and I have to turn the screen off (so it locks) and then back on. Also seems kind of sluggish, and I'm just done with LG.

They and/or VZW won't buy out my phone for the remaining $250 or so I owe on it... I feel like there should be a lemon law for phones...

Leingod 08-10-2016 01:37 PM

I stay far away from LG and Motorola. I've had nothing but issues with those brands even outside of phones. HTC has been kind to me, and google is solid.

One of my friends had the LG G3. Nothing but issues with the camera. She then upgraded to the new LG G5 and has constantly complained about random lag from the bloatware skins overlayed on the phone.

See, I had an HTC Thunderbolt and that was the biggest piece of **** ever. I vowed to never to back to HTC. I actually went to an iPhone after that.

But, I wanted a better camera so I came back to Android. I think HTC is better now, and they're doing the next Nexus... but oh well. I've made my decision. Getting the Frost White at a discounted price is huge. It was only ever available direct from Google, but now I got it through Best Buy ebay... for like $150+ off.

The thunderbolt was junk. They're just like older model hyundais. Don't buy anything from 2005 or older. Since the One M8 came out, the quality and software is far better and has come a long way.

For that price though, can't go wrong the with 6p. Friend has it and loves his. Still fast, holds a charge, and looks amazing.

Finally found some cheap rims I like. They are blatant knockoffs but whatever lol

Will be able to stuff the 325's I want out back and can drop these spacers I put on temporarily.

Baking my tailpipes in the oven right now to set the urethane ceramic clearcoat. Going to take a few hours all said and done but hopefully it's a harder finish than baking them on the car.

Whatever until the spokes snap in half from hitting a pot hole. i've seen and read to many horror stories to cheap out on wheels.

Well **** that's no darn good. I've never even heard of that happening, but not so fond of being the first either. :(

I'd better ask Anthony about the quality control of these things..

Varrstoen? There is none. That's part of the reason they're so cheap. That and cheaping out on the manufacturing process :eekdance:

If you need a second set of wheels at steeply discounted prices, the OEM wheels are pretty much the best option. I think? you can fit a 325 tire on the 10.5" wide rear Nismo wheels.

Mainly track people or hitting potholes 3 feet deep, but it still happens. Just launching can snap spokes. i'd just be careful is all. They're knockoffs and cheap for a reason.

Way to rain on my parade lol

Yeah I'd looked into the 2015 Nismo wheels and set is about $1800. The Work T7R I don't mind as well is just a hair more. I just kinda like he idea of half that price is all. If money were no object I'd be ordering a set of Advan GTs.

Obviously there are compromises, but if safety is the compromise then that's clearly not a very good one.

ChaseZ 08-10-2016 02:19 PM

Holy ****

Pardon my French

Leingod 08-10-2016 02:20 PM

I do wonder if insurance would cover something like that though... Say a wheel snaps and you damage the suspension. Needs new fender, caliper, strut, etc. Or if insurance would go after the company that sold the wheels. hmmmmm

Leingod 08-10-2016 02:22 PM

Volk, BBS, RAYS, ADVAN, or SAMS are my go to wheels for previous cars. Any wheel has a chance to snap. But the risk is minimized if bought from a reputable known maker.

Like JAR said. The stock RAYS are some of the best still for the Z.

It's a good question, and not terribly difficult to find an answer to with a phone call to my broker.

However, what if a spoke snaps at any kind of speed. Then the least of my concerns are whether insurance will cover a fender and coilover!

Cheating out is one thing, but if it becomes dangerous at the expense of your wallet then that's quite another.

I have had knockoff wheels before R8 reps on my Audi, and never had a problem, but that quick google search yeilded a lot of very specific results which doesn't really sit all that well with me.

Leingod 08-10-2016 02:31 PM

When google gives you direct answers, you know it's a severe issue

ChaseZ 08-10-2016 02:59 PM

Going in for their last half hour bake. Turns out my oven only goes up to 550f but am sure that's close enough. Even though the clear had all night to set up with all this heating and cooling it is flowing out flawlessly. Darn tailpipes have a better paint job than the car lol

Oh I won't argue with that, that list hits my preferences more or less too. Can't deny I like the idea of getting rims and tires for less than half a set of rims alone mind you.

But this clearly doesn't seem to be the best idea. Maybe not as bad as it's made out to be but still enough to give me pause.

At the end of the day it is the difference between having new wheels this summer or waiting and adding that onto the winter project list. And some things are worth waiting for without question.

Then again no matter what I have a bit of a hard time choking down $1100 per rim for Advan GTs... especiLly when I have to pay duty, shipping and a 30% exchange rate on top of that!

ChaseZ 08-10-2016 04:35 PM

Absolutely love the color of heat treated titanium. Just clear, nothing else. Pictures do not do it justice! Plus it rained like hell when I was out earlier so that car is filthy so that doesn't help :p

This is one seriously hard finish. I can't see anything marring it whatsoever.

Test drove the Xterra. I was impressed. Seats weren't really comfy, but it was quiet, had tons of torque after about a 2 second hesitation, and visibility was decent. Didn't get a chance to drive the Juke. I may need to do some research on any issues with 06 Xterra's.
