Still, I'm sure it would be a blast.

Too bad my kids aren't old enough so I could get one and 'share' it with them.

Well 20 mins is the standard for any type of drone with a good camera and all the features. There are so many variables when it comes to flight times, my best was 23 mins without the go pro, video transmitter, and carbon fiber landing gear. But i built mine to maximize flight time and you can't just add another battery or bigger since weight is a BIG deal.

You can get small racing drones with a decent camera for ~$150 built. But they get around 10 mins of flight time.

My daughter's graduation went well, my bags are packed, and I'll be leaving for ZDayZ at 5:00 AM. I'll try to get reps out before I leave; otherwise, I'll get caught up when I get back next Tuesday. Hope everyone has a great weekend. :tiphat:

Thank you Thesaurus-Man

Your (mis)use of the word "vicariously" is quite curious.

I've thought of trying out one of those little sub $100 drones they have at check stands of Bestbuy and the like for kicks but never pulled the trigger.

Do have a 1/10 Axial RC Jeep to play with, but I switched it to LIPO batteries and instead of 20 minutes I'm getting a solid hour and a half out of it easily. Wasn't a cheap upgrade by the time you get a few batteries and the new charger, but well worth it. Doesn't sound like there are upgrade options like that for drones though.

Guess it's one of those things just like electric cars where battery technology is getting better, but still has a long way to go before it catches up to where it needs to be.

Layoffs galore going down at work and I have to go to a wake afterwards. This will be the longest day, ever. As long as I don't see my name come up in the ticket system for termination. Nobody gets full servers wiped!!

Leingod 05-20-2016 07:04 AM

And I'll have reps a bit later. Need coffee and to handle a few odd tickets first.

manager: Can I haz toner
Me: You going to fire me?
manager: Not my call
Me: Not my toner

Screw that. I'll just personally wipe everything with DOD standards and stick a few earth magnets from the maintenance shop on our SANS.

I have a plug in handheld electro magnet that can rip earrings and bend metal if you want it.

Yes please!!!

Masterbeatty 05-20-2016 07:30 AM

I used to have a handheld de-mag device too but it broke, but it definitely can destroy hard drives. I did a test with an old 40gb laptop drive.

I'm just miserable today. probably next week also. Once these layoffs are over and the dust settles, and I know if i have a job or not is when I will feel better.
