Oh and what's some download worthy apps? So far have I have the shopsaavy, WiFi On/Off, and Pandora.

If you're a sports guy, get Scorebard - love it for sports! I also use Weatherbug - it'll use your GPS to track where you are and get updated weather for that area, among many other things.

Grabbed both of em and a few others. Thanks. :D

Also, my friend just switched over from an iphone to the droid after playing around mine for about half an hour. She's had enough bs with at&t and it seems like the Droid already has the same or similar apps she previously enjoyed on her iphone anyways.

Oh and the browsing experience and the speed of the processor is amazing. I got like 5 apps open and the phone isn't choking at all.

Whoa, the fanboy force runs strong in this one! No need to get all butt hurt about a damn cell phone! If you have something else to say, hit me with a PM.

LOL how is my fanboy force strong based on that comment? All I was saying was if you feel the Z is all image.. So did you get your Z for image? I mean that is what your comment indicated correct?

You have another thing coming at ya if you think people who get Z's get them for the image of a Z lol... its a sports car and I purchased one to DRIVE... If I cared about image... I would be in a lexus or benz... The point I was making had NOTHING to do w/ a cellphone so your comment is pretty irrelevant. Anyhow back on topic:

One of the only reason I feel android is much better than apple is simply due to the freedom given to application developers and users alike. I can choose to make my own pinch to zoom app and use it myself or load it up on the store. I could write my own teather app and get internet on my laptop. The list is endless and I dont need apple to say ... oh we dont need this app on our store. With apple - you are spoon-fed and have no choice but to go w/ whats available. With android - you make whats available so instead of bitching and moaning to apple - you can implement it yourself. I see the android phones atleast for the next year or so be predominantly used by folks who have some programing know-how. Eventually when the app market is saturated - I would imaging other adopters would join in giving apple a run for their money.

MightyBobo 11-10-2009 07:15 PM

I dont like to be "that guy", but I wont lie - if a phone came along that had almost all, more, or better features than the iPhone for Verizon with a competent OS and lots of potential, I was going to buy it. I absolutely CANNOT stand Apples business practices.

bigaudiofanat 11-10-2009 07:45 PM

Wow really? I love there products and how they are bashing windows. I also enjoy that apple makes stuff that works. LOL

Only until recently has Apple been directly attacked, and Apple has done nothing BUT attack their competitors (in the most stereotypical, trendy ways possible) in order to attempt to gain ground.

And "stuff that works" versus "stuff that is truly functional, powerful, and customizable" are very different things. Not to mention you're using the same hardware in an Apple as a PC now...except you're paying double for the luxury of running MacOS...

bigaudiofanat 11-10-2009 08:43 PM

Well don't want to hijack this thread but they are now customer satisfactions #1 computer and there products can be used for many of the same things that you do with a computer. Also the fact that they are not including the program to allow customers to use mac and windows on the same computer is pretty cool. I have a 5 year old mac that still kicking and a 6 year old ipod. There iphones are great and well made, that one product changed the entire industry and how we use and look at cell phones. Yes we use to have the black berry's and all but nothing works as well as the iphone. The Droid is great I will say that but it's apps are limited and how they want you do download music is sort of a joke.

kdo2milger 11-10-2009 09:13 PM

so whats a good price to pay for this bad boy?

i guess my only gripes is it doesnt have the verizon nav pack and it only works in the states...i.e. not tri/quad band :shakes head:

is there gps capability with it?

No worries about hijacking, a good debate never hurt anyone.

It all boils down to the dumb-ing down of society, IMHO. Ive been using PC's for far too long, and when I jump on a Mac, I feel like I need to go full retard. That's Apples goal: how can we make this so simple and intuitive that ANYONE can use it. Great...but I'm not "anyone", not to toot my own horn. I WANT ****-tons of features and to be able to hack the crap out of it. I don't want my hands tied because Apple says so.

The way you're viewing it seems rather simplistic to be honest - "nothing works as well as the iPhone" - how so? Blackberries are amazing pieces of machinery in a very tiny package. The reason the iPhone is so popular has a LOT more to do with the simply fact that to many, its a status symbol. But for doing actual work and productivity things, the Blackberry will probably rape face. My Curve 8330 was awesome, and seeing as I don't need all the cheese-ball apps that the iPhone has, what did I care? So, ask yourself this - if you took away all the silly apps from the iPhone and the Blackberry, what are you left with? One is a toy, and one is a tool.

BTW, your hardware surviving that long means nothing to me lol - my sister is using a laptop of mine that is almost 7 years old now, and its still amazing. Yeah, its not the BEST spec-wise of course, but it still runs, and its plenty fast for her.

I will give you this however - you are very correct, that the iPhone is making companies look again, at how we look at cell phones. Everything is so mobile now, its scary.

Yes, there is a GPS built in, and it will also use cell towers to try to triangulate your position as close as possible, if it cant see any satellites. Furthermore, you dont need to pay for the VZNavigator package at all - a shock to MANY, because Verizon likes to get people by the balls with that. My Curve 8330 wouldnt even let you use the BUILT IN GPS unless you paid for that...

You actually want that Verizon nav crap? It uses Google for directions dude - I'll take that over Verizon ANY day haha.

You're going to find the lack of mobility as far as CDMA/GSM common in almost all Verizon phones. Do you really travel that much that you go to other countries with the old network?

Oh yeah, and some people are getting it for $100 through Verizon if they're a customer already. You can get it for $150 as a new customer through Sears.com.

Very Very good argument! I have to agree with you on the fact that mac's are simple to use. But they also include a lot of cool stuff. Like there iphoto has built in face recognition that automatically looks at your photos and adds photos with peoples faces into their own little folder. Let's not forget about itunes and how that made music organizing very nice and simple to find whatever you wanted. Yes they did make things simple but in today's society with people wanting things to not only work but be fast and reliable. Microsoft shoots themselves in the foot every chance they can. They tinker with stuff and move stuff around just to do it. I mean honestly from the change from XP to vists it took me 5 minutes to change my control panel to the old style. Also Office I mean come one I am certified in Office but the new one made me feel like a complete moron and could not find the things that I was looking for. That is how they lose people. They mess with stuff just to fiddle. But yes I agree with what you are saying. I will also say that it is very scary that we are getting this mobile. +1 for you.

Why the hell would Apple include bootcamp in the computers? Also, the amount of apps are obviously going to grow as time passes. I mean the phone has been out for like what? 5 days now?

While we're offtopic, I have to agree with Mightybobo. I hate Microsoft more than the next guy but the fact that Apple has manipulated the masses with dirty marketing and pretty/cute packaging really pisses me off. In addition, it doesn't help that most of the Apple fanboys I come across are the biggest computer idiots I've ever met. For example, my roommate is one of these Apple fanboys and it's just absolutely hilarious that he runs bootcamp(WinXP) at all times. So basically he paid 2-3x more than me even though I have better hardware and essentially the same OS. Scratch that, he DOES have the pretty pearl white shell. Not only that we occasionally engage in Mac vs PC discussion every time he reads an Apple article and pretty much regurgitates it back to me in the most nonsensical way possible due to his lack of computer terms.

Anyways, back on topic. I found my first con with the DROID. The phone's camera is less than impressive imo. Maybe it's just the lack of light(apartment parking lot) and the pictures came out terrible.
