not sure wat the deal was..

Yup, it happens. I had my year of screwed up years in '12-'13.

Odd, I think maybe buying the Z cured it.

yah, after like the 20th or so bad luck in a row, i decided best to clam up for a while and hung tight to let the storm pass. i just waited mine out.

time worked in my favor, and my wife was there to help out. :D

kenchan 09-24-2015 10:24 AM

i place my cars on flatstoppers and put stabil in the last tank, but this is not necessary. i also put covers on them.. oh yah, also DCon. dont need mice eating my rides.. :ugh:

Awesome. Thanks!! Dcon is a good idea. And I'll inflat the tires before it goes in. Maybe I'll get a bottle of Stabil. It'll only be for 4-5 months.

np. yah, my car is usually stored 5-6months, with stabil you can go a year without worrying about the fuel going bad.

from past experience, 5-6months is no issue without stabil, i just put it in there for piece of mind just in case i have to extend the hibernation for watever reason.

kenchan 09-24-2015 10:33 AM

oh, and suspend your insurance so that it is only comprehensive coverage. if you have a lien, might not be possible.. dat takes my 250 or watever 6months premium down to like 17. :rofl2:

Pintsize725 09-24-2015 10:35 AM

I just finished giving a tour to some vets from 30 yrs ago. Wow, boy did they have some stories. But it was a blast, and they also reminded me a few times about how I will look and feel in 30 yrs. LMAO.

Yea. I keep forgetting to ask. I've never stored a car for the winter. Any prep need to be done? Figured i'd just add a full tank of gas and cover it in storage. Do a full detailing and call it a season.

I have read a lot of advice about this but with a modern car you don't really need to do much of anything.

I change the oil shortly before putting the car away, when I'm sure that I won't be getting the car out again I put a trickle charger on it, and when I get the car out in the spring I change the oil again and make sure the tires are up to 34 psi cold. That's about it.

Step one: Do that stuff
Step two: Don't worry about it
