Let's call oblivious drivers the ones who aren't paying attention. In previous vehicles, I didn't give two $hits if someone hit me or not. But that doesn't mean I was oblivious.

In fact, I've had someone hit me in this exact scenario except it was a right turn. In hindsight, I was young and stupid and should have been defensive and let the guy cut me off. But he ended up putting a nice dent in the passenger door of my Ford Exploder Sport. I was donating the car in a few weeks, so I didn't even make an issue of it or file a claim. He had to deal with his rental car company.
