Wow...
So, my car is totaled, which was slightly unexpected. Our Camry... Is not totaled, which is totally unexpected. They basically took the whole interior out, cleaned and dried the connectors (probably WD-40 or something similar) and they have removed the carpet from the interior and trunk and the door panels and shampooed/cleaned it all up (seats and everything) and then put it in a room with an ozone generator. No water got into the engine or transmission. He said he's confident that none of the electronics were damaged beyond that, and once the carpet & seats are thoroughly cleaned the car will be detailed. So the repair is only about $900. He said if in the future things happen and it can be blamed on the incident, repairs will be covered. Now my dilemma... My wife already has a new Camry. I could buy this one from her for cheap to use as a DD, or she could sell it. This scenario never crossed my mind, that my car could be totaled but hers not. But the ECU and electronics are so low in my car, the computers basically are all ****** and the car is worth more as salvage than to fix. |
Nobody knows how CarFAX works. :icon17:
My insurance company says they do not notify CarFax of claims. My shop says they do not notify CarFax of claims. How the **** does CarFax find out about these service records? Basically I'm wondering if I don't get rid of the car with in a short time of the repair if it's going to show up like it is "flood damaged". |
I mean, my wife doesn't want the car... And I guess I could keep it and use it as my beater, but I'd kind of rather get something I actually like. :ugh:

me and the mrs both killed it in the gym

i parked next to a dark gray accord-sport sedan today.
i looked at my fit then the accord... then the fit... then the accord. BOTH CARS EXACTLY THE SAME! :rofl2: (my indian neighbor's philosophy) nono, that accord sedan is nice. looks great. i even like it in stock form in that dark gray color. :D |
so if i ever crash my fit, or on a lucky day when a bowling ball sized hail hits the car, then i will buy me an accord-sport sedan 6MT.
then do the washer mod. ;) jk |
All the supplies used to detail herhttp://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...psegqvvsou.jpg
And a little disappointed in the end. Was expecting a deep shine and gloss.http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...psejevy576.jpg |
cool! have fun detailing ur ride. :D

so my old watch with water dat got inside due to a crack in the bottom lens (to show off the kinetic mechanism) was showing horrible condensation inside the face of the watch. i couldnt even read the numbers with all the big droplets of water. :ugh:
my wife said she could fix it by placing it in a ziplock bag with uncooked rice. left it in there for 2-3 days and holy crap, all the condensation is gone! i didnt know rice could be used a desiccant. :D now i can use my old watch for when im working in the garage or riding my bike or watever when exposed to harsh environments. i just cant wash it no more, just use a wet paper towel or something. |
