General rule of thumb. Buy an android phone today and it'll be outdated tomorrow. Buy an iPhone today and it'll be outdated 6 months from now, plus you'll be laughed at for not owning the newest apple thingie.

Tech rule of thumb: Android kills iOS in terms of customization and usability. iOS kills Android in terms of stability and simplicity. Although that's starting to change

Shiny new thing rule of thumb: iPhone is sleek and shiny. Android (minus M9) is all plastic and can feel chincy at times.

Verdict from the guy who owns and uses both daily: Android keyboard is better and I never notice the difference in screen resolution. Battery life is better on iPhone. Camera is slightly better on iphone. Get iPhone if you want battery life and ease of access. Buy Android if you want custom homescreens and user level access to everything.

A better camera is always nice. And with how flat phones are nowadays, I don't notice a difference between my 4.5inch iPhone and 5.5in M8. Question though. What year Nexus 7 do you have? I have the 2013 edition. Stupid thing can't hold a charge past a day and will randomly restart at times. It's a known tragic flaw of the device itself. But it's hit or miss for some people.

I will give Apple credit with keeping iPhones up to date for years to come. Android can be tooth pulling excruciating at times.

Apple has been in the fuckin dark ages since the beginning of phones when it comes to damn keyboards. They steal every other design cue from Android, why not the keyboard? :shakes head:

My battery never goes down because I plug it in the car pretty much every time I drive. I set it right next to my e-brake, and the plug sticking out of the center console pocket keeps it from sliding forward off the console :tup:

My take on the camera is that you'll always be behind the technology curve, and you shouldn't be looking to your phone for high quality portraits anyway (at least yet - the technology just isn't there despite the advances and quality of some like the G4). If you need a camera, get a real one. Hell, a decent quality 30 year old used film camera for $250 off craigslist can still create much higher resolution prints than $5000 worth of digital camera equipment can. And if you're one of those that takes selfies with everything from your food to your driver seat to the ant you found crawling on the ground, please stop :tiphat:

Interesting. My Nexus 7 is first generation (2012 I think?). The only problem I ever encountered was the battery connection. After about a year it got to where you could just barely shake the device and the plug would disconnect. So I got in there with some electrical tape and made sure that never happened again. The battery life is definitely weaker than it was, but I don't use it for hours at a time and have never encountered any problems. I try to turn it off whenever I'm not using it, so maybe that helped? I will say the hardware is showing it's age. Thankfully, I don't tax it too much.

lol yeah my wife has a Galaxy S5 and is getting pretty frustrated with updates that break her phone. She did one update right after she got it and the phone app broke until they issued a new update. AT&T just said tough luck once they figured out the problem when I brought into them

I'll leave mine on the table in standby mode for a day. I'll come home at night and it'll be dead. It drains way to quick. i'm assuming I either have a defective battery, or some stock meaningless app is draining it uncontrollably. I've basically given up on it.

I do give credit to HTC. They vowed to push updates for 2 years past it's origination date. I'm currently on lollipop which isn't on 99% of Verizon phones still.

Decent car camera on sale via Amazon today for $40. Just not sure if the cable is long enough to be fed through the roof liner and into a usb/power adapter.
