Girlfriend has modem in basement. Coax and telephone. She then has a modem upstairs with coax that provides just internet it seems. Freaking weird. What's the point?

I honestly have no idea anymore. She has at least 8 coax splitting off into 5 different amplifiers that run in different sections of her house. I ended up piggybacking my real router off of her moronic router/modem combo thats upstairs to get her a steady and continuous WiFi connection. I still don't see why twc couldn't just run everything off of the real modem she has in her basement thats only used for phone.
