Hello all

I'm 26 years old living in Chicago. My Dad owns a 79 Datsun 280zx (bought in 1980) that I grew up with and fell in love with the Zs at a early age. I use to own a 92 Nissan 240sx hatch and a 95 Nissan 240sx coupe. After drifting/racing them and blowing the motors, pouring too much money into those cars, I decide to grow up and invest in a 1973 Datsun 240z. It's still "under the knife" undergoing surgery. I'm currently in the market for a Nissan 370z 6spd but, I'm kinda stuck on making a decision. I love the 09-12 Zs. I'm very disappointed in the 2013 model, with the LEDs and NO FANGS on the front bumper WTF is that about??? Anyway, I'm stuck on a 2011 or 2012 Black 6spd. Can't make up my mind if I want a base or touring. I thought maybe I could get a 2013 and change up the front bumper but dont know if it's possible??? Any advance and insight to help me make a good purchase is appreciated.

I love my 12 MB touring/sports pkg....I felt the same way about the new front ends...save the money and get a 12, but be sure to either get the sports package....+ touring if it's got it.

Welcome. I have a 2013. I didn't really pay much attention to the front end until I got on the forum and noticed all the bad A$$ 9-12s with few mods done to the front. Now I have painted fang envy.

Don't worry though you still do have options with the 2013. Front lips - Varis V2 and Carbon Signal. Also most of the vendors I spoke with let me know that there shouldn't be a problem putting the popular aftermarket front bumpers on the 2013.

Depending on how resourceful you are you might even be able to reuse the LEDs on aftermarket bumpers.

I know you are not feeling the 2013 front. But don't let that stop you if you can't find a decent 2012 or older.

Also there is a guy on the forum who has a 2013 with one of the older 2012 lips on it. He had a really good body shop.

I'm still on the fence about going lip or full bumper. Another option is to swap a 2012 or older bumper on. Although you might eventually miss the drls. ha ha

Haha, I LOVE my 2013 with the LEDs =P I ended up buying the Base with Sport Package because this will eventually turn into my weekend/track car. I DD it for now and love it. I chose Base because I was eventually going to put in seats and other stuff into it. So it all depends on what you plan on doing with it. I didn't want to buy touring and end up tearing it all apart and wasting money. Good luck with finding one =D

The bumper should be able to go on without issue. The only problems I heard thus far are going from 2012 or older to 2013. The DRL hits the washer reservoir. There have been a few peeps on Chi craigslist selling used bumpers 2009-2012 for around 100 bucks in good shape. At that price I might just pick one up and see how it fits the 2013 when I have to take my bumper off anyway for CAI install.
