People opt for the "tried tested and true"goodies. Myself included haha! But there's nothing wrong with checking out all that there is out there.

Seems to me it hasnt been done because it ends up being around $475+ for everything and people rather purchase the stillen gen 3s instead. But Ive read that the stillen gen 3s do not make the same hp tq gains with the bumper on. This setup is in between a short ram and cai without the hot metal tubing. The Popchargers sound so badass too! Im planning on doing the forced air fang mod going to the popchargers and a vented hood to prevent heat soak.

Problem with this setup is that it sucks in air from under the hood which is hot as hell when the car is being run hard. The Stillen G3's draw air from outside the engine bay which is going to be colder.

This is the main reason most go with the Stillen G3's or someother long tube intake. There's plenty of threads on this exact issue so just do a search.

The Popchargers will not increase flow any more than a good OEM-form air filter and will draw in more air from under the hood than the factory setup (see gomer_110's and Nick Servin's comments above). If you want to do any good, you've got to get the coolest air you can. Under the hood is not that place.

The post-MAF tubes will give a little gain but not much. For a DD, not enough to make it worth what they cost, IMNSHO. But they do look nice - if that's your style, go for it.

Yeah ive heard of the heatsoak problems of the overheating VHR but im planning on installing a vented hood and hoses from the fangs that force air into the popchargers. The stillens gen 3s lose power when the bumper is covering them and the metal piping gets real hot. Maybe the stillen gen 3s do offer more peak hp but I want to go a different route just to be the first to test.

Yeah I know that the open element filters will suck in hot air. But with air going to the filters and a vented hood I should be alright. The popchargers sound real bad *** on the VQ also.

Someone on the g37 forums dyno'd the popcharger and it lost power across the rpm range. But they look and sound nice...

Yep. Short rams are worse than stock given the underhood heat on these cars. Either move the filter out of the engine bay or stick with drop ins and maf tubes.
